I know that the longnose r200 diff from late 80's Z31's are a bolt in affair on an S12. My question is, are the rear subframes interchangable? The trailing links, springs and shocks (from what I have read)are also interchangable. How about slapping a 5 lug R200 Z31 complete rear subframe into an S12. Has it been done? With what modifications?

Z31 Rear Subframe?
good question, that all depends on the frame studs really...
I think there'd be a certain amount of modification needed, but I can't be certain. I myself was looking into doing something similar but with a Z32 subframe so I could get multi-link suspension.
thanks for searching.
I just Posted this this morning..
the Answer is NO. the subframe hits the body.

randy could not get it to work.
Where does it foul the body exactly ? Z31 looks more or less identical to OEM S12 and I've already commited monies to my Z31 frame so I'll have to make it work lol.
Anyway I'll be attempting this mod in the new year and I work at a professional suspension shop so I have all the time and gear to make it work. I hope.....
The only Z31 subframe that "might" fit is 87-89 from what I've read.
I have my eye on an 88 naZ at a mechanic shop. Been there rotting for 5 years or so. The diff and trailing arms are screaming for me to go and get them Wink
Hey Ben -
Sounds like that parts car I got probably won't work for you LOL
