Original Content:

For those of you who didnt read my thread about me picking up my kade notch....here is the story. Guy 6 hours away needs to sell his project....85 kade notch. I am like sweet...i need a car and 1k is a hell of a steal....but i dont have the cash right now...but i will when i go back to school and i need said car to get to school and back due to my 626 having gremlins....So he holds on to the car for me for like a month and a half. My mom, brother, his fiancee, and i go there, pick the car up, and i drive her home. She runs great all the way home...but there is a list of things that need to be hooked up and done to it...yay, i bought a project...least she runs...and is fast as hell. We make it into seattle and my wipers die as i am crossing lake washington in a monsoon....awesome. My brother and i spend 2 hours fixing the rods..they came apart. We got them back together but couldnt figure out if something was supposed to hold them together or not. We used one of his fiancee's hair ties...its been holding since! Anyways...here is a list of things I have fixed and a list of things I need to fix...and I will post pics later at the end.

I have fixed:

speedometer
tachometer

I need to fix/hook up:

Water Temp
Oil Pressure
Aftermarket seat with s13 seat rail install
Figure out why my brake warning light comes on when i use brakes
put lock on trunk
figure out rear rattles
install cd deck
aim headlights in

The car has:
cold air intake
no ps
my nismo shift knob
custom exhaust, cherry bomb into a muffler
msd coil
came with a turbo from a 2g eclipse...not installed
extra set of s13 wheels with studded tires
hockey puck rear sub frame bushings

I think thats it for now. I will post up some pics later...I am at a friends house...i just wired the tach up today. I have only brought the car up to 4500 and it pulls hard...the engine supposedly has low miles on it...it came out of a t boned s13 with hicas. I was also told it was compression checked and was clean all across...but i didnt see anything on paper...i just knew it drove smoothly and idled well....all good signs. I need to hook up the water temp and oil pressure tho before i beat on it to hard/to much.

She probably havent noticed the car yet lol. Sorry sam its no offense cars are just not often a woman thing

Are you going to leave the painting like that and make it worth the POS badge, or give it some shine? Else it looks very gut!

Funny cause I didn't even notice the girl. How the male vs. female minds work in mysterious ways.

thats actually my mother...she dresses kind of younger sometimes then she is...she is like in her low 50s...

I have a paint scheme in mind actually; Gloss white with a gloss black hood/trunk lid. A friend of mine has all of the stuff to paint a car. I tried to offer him my 82 rx7 but his wife was all like...we dont need another car...blah blah blah. He wants a small rwd car tho...i can tell lol. Anyways, he just bought a sail boat for 700 bucks that needs a lot of work and he said he would paint the car for me if i help him with the boat...which takes up his whole effin shop...i still cant believe he bought a freakin sail boat. Other then paint, I want to get a turbo or se lip/skirt kit, and i want to try to put a roof wing on the car from a celica/supra. Other then that I am thinking wheels/tires and suspension...prolly convert the front to s13. I want to dd the car and autox it. I am going to end up building the hatch up as a drift/track slut. Its going to be slow going tho, i am a broke ass with school and i keep finding things on the notch that need to be fixed.

sam31183Oct 9, 2009, 9:57 pm · #13

pulled the back drivers side brake caliper off the hatch today and put it on the notch...noise seems to have gone down...but the brake indicator light still comes on...i think the bmc is bad...whatever, it still stops right now...i will replace it later. Also...my exhaust rubs on my subframe...blah.

Dude, Your mom is hot.

And I don't mind that if you tell her you know a 24 year old man who would hit on her.
sam31183Oct 10, 2009, 1:42 am · #15

one of my friends keeps saying that he is going to be her 7th husband...it really creeps me out...but then again i have told one of my friends before that he had a hot mom...so i guess i deserve it...

sam31183Oct 10, 2009, 1:28 pm · #16

so...i have been trying to spend like at least one day a week fixing things on the notch...

1st week i fixed the tach and the speedo
2nd week i had a leak in my fuel tank so i had to fix that...
3rd week i grabbed the rear drivers side brake caliper out of the hatch and swapped them.

now for what i have planned for the next couple of weeks...
4th week i am going to wire up the water temp
5th week i am going to install my e brake cables
6th week install cd deck (normally this is higher on my build lists, but i am enjoying the kade soundtrack)
7th week relocate/mount push button start (it is just hanging by the ignition)
8th week clean up engine bay

i am not sure about after week 5...i will update if need be. Also, I am probably going to be getting a macbook air from my moms bf...but i need to swap a bunch of music over to his new macbook and put a new hard drive in the old macbook so i can use it...that will prolly take a good portion of a weekend...but i am going to use the mba for editing up some sweet autox vids this upcoming autox season...and i will also use the mba for surfing the web and music purposes...my dell is kind of old and tired...so i am just going to use it or my desktop for school and what not...

edited to update the list...i may change weeks up depending on weather and mood obviously...

JayOct 10, 2009, 1:31 pm · #17

Yeah, the 7th husband thing is taking a simple gesture a biiiit too far.

BUT! As for week 6:
Clean up engine bay

sam31183Oct 10, 2009, 2:38 pm · #18

lol....yes! I need to clean off the valve cover...i think craig and his friend coated it with oil/grease while putting the engine in the car. I also need to get some wire wrap to wrap the harness from where it was extended to reach the plugs under the maf...i have glovebox ecu...so my harness was ran thru the passenger side.

It has been a minute since I last updated my build thread. I have been busy with work and school....now i am busy with just the car due to school being over until the 5th and me being laid off for a month or two. Anyways, lets take a look at what I have done recently....

I replaced the rear side window trim...I bought the trim off of fyneyoungstunna a long with some tail lights he had.

before with no trim.

I used some silicone to attach them to the car because the mounting hardware...ie clips where pretty much all gone. I ended up getting some silicone on the car itself...but since it is getting painted soon i dont give a crap.
I also bought a steering wheel and hub...they work out pretty well and i like them...also, for those of you who dont know i made a custom shift boot/sheet metal cover...

posted image
The horn button that came on the wheel said type rs on it...there for it was gay and did not go on the car.
I also replaced my cracked tail lights with the set I bought from my coloradian friend fyneyoungstunna...funny thing was one of my tail light bulbs was out on the set that came with the car...so i got a good set of tail lights just in time...

Next order of business is an aftermarket seat install.

BTW The club stickers are one offs I made at work...they are not for sale or anything...but if arro has some interest in using them as club stickers i could produce them for the club...they are 3 piece decals though, so they are kind of difficult to put together.

EightySix200SXDec 14, 2009, 4:31 am · #23

notch ftw!!! belive me those rear window trims are bitches i had trouble with mine i re epoxyed the clips on i had to stack pennies to get it flush lmao

sam31183Dec 14, 2009, 5:14 am · #24

I believe it. I have had more then one person tell me that they are a pain in the ass to get off, and they are definitely a pain in the ass to get back on. The silicone on the passenger side took forever to dry...I almost put a couple of zip screws into it.

ArroDec 14, 2009, 5:25 am · #25

I actually have the sticker shit set up, I just need the guy to get back to me with the sample now. Yes, I actually have been doing something about it

sam31183Dec 14, 2009, 5:48 am · #26

I figured you were on it...I just knew you were busy and I had access and the know how to make my own decals. It was kind of nice my boss had more chrome vinyl then he knew what to do with.

ArroDec 14, 2009, 8:52 am · #27

Yeah I'll be moving to a house this month so lots going on.

sam31183Dec 14, 2009, 9:28 pm · #28

forgot to mention my windshield wipers came apart again last night on my way home. I am guessing that a hair tie isnt a permanent fix. .

fyneyoungstunnaDec 28, 2009, 3:27 am · #29

i got some more lil bits for you sam, no charge you just pay shipping if you want them.

man i cant wait to get another notch.

and i know im an ass for saying it but you mom is hot in those pics.

anyways. if the guy still has it i know where a turbo mani is for hella cheap, its a gladman. pm me and ill tell you the price.

sam31183Dec 28, 2009, 6:30 am · #30

i am going to pass on the turbo mani...i am keeping her na for reliability sakes. What pieces do you have for me though for only the cost of shipping? lol.

fyneyoungstunnaJan 4, 2010, 3:19 am · #31

sorry it took so long to reply.

well i have the door panels on the inside if you want em, they are not in the best of condition, but they will work for a temp. i have the entire stock radio and its in mint condition, speakers are also mint. i have the reflectors from around the car, all are not even scratched. and just a crapton of other stuff. i still have basically a complete shell in my garage minus most of the dash stuff and the seats and carpet. i have the trunk carpet though, its in basicaly awesome condition. just tons of stuff. ive decided to build the ka for now and put it into my z32 so its time to get funds.

sam31183Jan 4, 2010, 8:14 am · #32

I do need the back reflector thing for the drivers side back fender...wait...i was going to jb weld that back together...errr, ok, maybe i should still get the reflectors for spares....any pics of the door panels? I should be interested in the trunk carpet...but my trunk kind of leaks...i am most likely just going to por15 and or rhino line it eventually. Let me know though if there is anything else on the shell that you think is of value. And I will let you know if I can think of anything I really need...

EternalSwapJan 4, 2010, 8:40 am · #33

sam!
is that the egay s13 deep dish wheel?
hows the placement? it looks a little closer than stock, which i like..

sam31183Jan 4, 2010, 9:00 am · #34

it is closer than stock. I have to reach further back to hit my turn signal stalk...threw me off at first because i always thought my high beams were on for a couple of days...and than i got used to it. The horn button it came with was very very gheytastical. Also, there is a line on the hub that is supposed to signify top, right...well if you line the hub up with that line going to the top the holes on the wheel dont match up worth a crap. I took the hub back off and put the steering wheel on the hub on my comp desk and then put the hub back on the car. The hub/wheel came with a long set of screws and a short set of screws, the long set of screws is supposed to be for having no horn button while the long ones are supposed to be for having the horn button. Without the horn button on the short screws thread in fine up top, but the bottom ones didnt thread worth a damn, I took 3 nuts that came with the kit and threaded those down all the way on three long screws and put those on the bottom...works fine. 35 bucks and I cant complain to much. I ordered a wheel with a red line and red thread, but they called and told me they were out so i just got the yellow and it has been growing on me. At first the car felt like a go kart with this small of a wheel, but i have gotten used to it and love it.

EternalSwapJan 4, 2010, 9:13 am · #35

ah okay sweet. imma buy one of these for mine

ps your car is hawt, can i drive?

ArroJan 4, 2010, 9:25 am · #36

Why don't you get your own notch roadworthy, Alex? lol

EternalSwapJan 4, 2010, 8:18 pm · #37

i am lol

sam31183Jan 4, 2010, 10:17 pm · #38

no alex, you cant drive...but i would make you crap your pants if you went for a ride with me...i have seriously scared myself in this car running the lighthouse loop...3rd gear almost the whole way in and out of the gas sliding everywhere...thing is nuts...and needs suspension, but i had no idea i could drive a car like that lol.

EternalSwapJan 5, 2010, 5:10 am · #39

i scared arro in his own neon
i scared a chick driving thru a canyon in my truck
i scared andrew getting on the freeway
hahah
lemme drive it skank

bahahaha, I have scared anyone who has rode in anything with me. I scared my brother one night in his fiancee's newer chevrolet malibu. I scared anyone who got in my 626 with me...i scared anyone who got in my z with me. I have autoxed for several years and did 2 drivers classes...i can drive yo.

sam31183Jan 11, 2010, 11:47 pm · #41

fuel tank started leaking again in another place...so i went kind of extreme with my second patch job...

pics of what i did for the time being...If I cant find a tank in a couple of weeks I think I am going to pull the tank out of the hatch and then eventually put a fuel cell in the hatch....

this is a pic of the tank with rust inhibitor on it...i did two coats of this after i put the patch on the one spot and than sanded the tank some/cleaned it up some.

I cut those strings hanging down after i applied the bed liner...they are from the fiberglass clothe that came with the patch kit.

If you look at like the second pic of the rust inhibitor you can see that there is kind of a dip on the left side of that tank...I think one of the previous owners backed into something at one time or another...the rest of the car is very very straight underneath. My only other guess is that I have been rallying in my sleep...but if that was the gas i am sure there would be more damage to the car than just the tank.

EternalSwapJan 12, 2010, 12:16 am · #42

i thought the straps had some sort of rubber on them to help prevent shit like that?

sam31183Jan 12, 2010, 12:43 am · #43

they do...but i imagine after time the rubber gets brittle and hard...also it doesnt help that there is some distortion on the tank towards the left side...

cs357sigJan 16, 2010, 10:23 am · #44

Hey man, wanted to get back on here and see if you's had any major problems since picking up the beast.  Looks like things are coming along real nice other than annoying old car piddly things.  It's bitchin to see the POS letters are still there!

sam31183Jan 16, 2010, 10:29 pm · #45

I really like them...but my brother keeps telling me that eventually the car wont be a pos and that when that happens they will have to come off...most likely after the car gets painted...which may or may not happen in a couple of weeks. I am most likely going to end up pulling the gas tank out of the hatch here soon and eventually when i come back to the hatch i am going to put in a fuel cell...My style of daily driving has really shown what needs to be replaced though on the notch....hahaha.

sam31183Feb 7, 2010, 12:45 am · #46

been parts collecting lately....

picked up some se side skirts/lip in faded red...so those are going to go right on the car as soon as i get a chance.

Picked up the clear corners that were on draconis' car...i just ordered up some white leds off of the ebay for them as i am looking to making the clear corners have an even more white look to them.

Ordered some reflective white vinyl...going to be doing some stuff for 2 friends cars and some stuff for the el notch.

My tax return is on its way, and i should be getting some money soon from the school as i am getting my sng late...So, when my buddy gets back next month i will have money for my hoshinos so i can buy them off of him. After that it is tires, springs/shocks and some paint...i am so excited...i am going to have the most bad ass notch of all time when i am done...in like a month or two.

Keep your eyes peeled to this thread for the last version of....The POS.

(we are getting soon to having to re label it...sad but good day!)

If you want to make the wheels look amazing, use aircraft stripper, polish the shit out of them, repaint the black parts, and use a clear wheel coat to seal the whole thing again. The dingy look they have right now is corroded original clear coating.

JayMar 8, 2010, 3:39 am · #49

I'm jealous of your wheels, and therefore will call you a prick and ignore you for the next 2 weeks.

Or not. Just the next 10 seconds

........

And I'm over it

I'm still jealous of your wheels. I really have been looking for those hardcore and here you are.

meanie. those are pimp shit

sam31183Mar 8, 2010, 5:59 am · #50

i have just been looking for hoshinos...and when eric had these on his green 510 I would see him driving around town and I would always freak out because I wanted his wheels. Well my brother had his ae86 parked in front of his work and eric came in and asked who had the 86...he started talking to my brother and found out he swapped over to some works but still had the hoshinos. He was thinking about selling them to a guy down in cali with a bluebird. But I have em now.
