Can someone please tell me the correct torque setting for refitting the lower ball joint to the control arm? Or if it even matters....

Lower Ball Joints...

I can't tell you because Nissan recomends replacing the whole control arm and not just the ball joint. Therefore it's not listed in the FSM.
So it would seem...
The replacement I got from repco has more play than the one I'm replacing.
Which is probably why Nissan charge $300 for the whole assembly as opposed to $23 for the repco balljoint.
$300? damn. I have replaced both control arms on 2 200sx and it didn't cost $300 for any of the arms.
I did control arms, strut rods, strut rod bushings and assemblies and brackets. I think all of that was less than $300 total, but I can't find the reciept right now for an accurate accounting.
Besides you should take a close look at the mounting hole for the tie rod end link on the control arms. I'd lay money that they are not round any more. They get oblonged over time from wear and the end link can't hold the sway bar as well as it was designed to from the factory. I think this is part of the reasoning behind replacing the whole assebly instead of just the ball joint.
I got a control arm and ball joint and having the ball joint pressed for like $90 including tax!
Brand new?
Who from?
Well I missed the fact that you are down under. That could be the answer for the discrepancy in the pricing.
the balljoint was brand new..lol
control arm was off an '85...but if it's good....who cares
