I don't think you could safely go past 215 with a 6" rim
a 225/55/15 and 225/50/15 both would fit on the factory wheels.
So a 225/60/15 would be out of the question since i want to put the canuck motorsports lowering springs on it. I think the drop is gonna be 1.25.
195/60/15 are 24.3" tall
225/50/15 are 24" tall
225/55/15 are 24.8" tall
225/60/15 are 25.6" tall
when you pick a tire it is best to get on as close to stock height as possible to keep your speedo reading the correct speed. You could put any one of the three tires above on you factory wheels and not have any problems even if lowered with the Canuck springs.
205mm tires are already pushing the limits of a 6" wide wheel. I would not reccomend going any wider than that. I had a set of 215/60R15 tires on my stock rims and they were incredibly bulgy. Around cloverleafs, the tires rolled over onto the sidewalls and it handled like crap.
In fact, I believe that a 195mm tire on the stock rim will give better handling than a 205mm tire, for the fact that you will have a stiffer sidewall.
i have had 195's on mine and they feel fine. i just wish they were a little lower profile
I ran 225/50s on my stock turbo rims for 4-5 years. Never a problem. Filled the fender wells quite nicely. In-fact, as soon as my current 205/55s wear out, I'm gonna go back to the 225/50s. With the smaller 205/55s I'm having serious rear negative camber.....-3 degrees on each side with the lowering springs. With the wider 225/50s I didn't have this problem.
so are the 225\60 gonna affect handling that much???
225/60 ?? Why would you want to go taller than stock?
If you mean 225/50, then it approved handling on my car....way over the stock 195/60s.
It gives you a much wider foot print, and lower sidewall height
no 225/60 i got them for free thats why i was asking. I got 4 brand new pirelli p6000 for free 225/60/15

I wouldn't use them.....to tall, and will probably reduce performance since the overall rolling diameter is larger than stock
but i can use them for now without any major mechanical problems until i can afford the falkens i want to get . Im not planning on really racing the car until i complete my brake and spring mods which wont be for a good month or so. Im one of those guys that wont race unless they can afford to replace parts.
