other option for the lsd
Replace it. I ended up with a nice loop of gear lube under the car from it leaking.
hmmm ok ill have to do that then ok new problem now but with pics ok so i got the diff all lined up and ready to be bolted down but for some dang reason my bolts arent long enough (WTF I pulled them outa a 85 maxima with the very same rear subframe and diff so unless thats a little off then im boned again) ok the first pic is me holding the bolt i have up where it should go and the next are the seals the 2nd one is the slightly mangled one there a bit blurry but you can make it out i hope

Replace the seals. If you look in the last pic you can see the ring I was talking about inside the diff that falls in the way of the axle sliding in all the way. Just push it over with a screwdriver so you can slide the axle in unobstructed.
As far as the bolts go, where are the ones that were in the car to begin with?
I may, stress may, be able to get my hands on some if you are in a complete bind and can\'t find any. Just let me know.
Make sure you replace the seals with new ones. In my experience, (every time), you put in one of these seals that\'s used, it looks perfectly alright, but if its been used before they always leak.
im not sure where the ones that were on the car went i never found them so I went to pull n save and found some but im short by about an inch Sad tommrow at school im gonna see if i can find some and if not ill swing by fasteners inc and have them make/get me some ethier way i havent got anything accomplished yet looks like i wont be driving it to applebloosum like I wanted to Sad
ok finally got some bolts and the seals anything I should know about the seals in order to take out the old ones and put the new ones in? Like do they pop, pry, tear out? Grease them? Grease the half shafts?
ok diff is in but the seals arent comming out i tried prying them i even used some freakin plyers nothing by repair manual shows a guy prying them?? Is there a little metal ring that supposed to be there or does it come out with the oil seal? also it says to use a multi something something grease is that refering to regular grease or gear oil/lube? Thanks for putting up with my questions guys
no ring. They are just a bit rusted to the case. I\'d get in there with a long flat blade and do the pry thing......but try not to scratch the housing. When tou install the new one use the old one as a spacer when you knock it in. I did that and it worked great. If you don\'t, you\'ll end up needing another new seal.
well oil seals are in half shafts are in and bolted up now for my new problem my drive shaft will NOT bolt up to the diff at all it appears to have the wrong bolt pattern like completely wrong even if i turn it multiple times i still can only get one bolt and nut on the other holes are completly off unfortunetly i cant really get a pic to show you guys so.... any possible idea or what im confused
Which engine do you have again? I just put the diff from my 88SE into my 87SE a couple weeks ago. I had to change the pinion companion flange. Might be a year change, or it may have been because the 88 was a 5sp and the 87 is an auto......dunno.
If you have an R200 that was in the car then you can just swap the companion flanges. Otherwise you will probably need to have yours changed on your drive shaft.
hmmm thats what I was thinking more or less wasnt sure of the actually name is there anyway to find out whats on it or should I just take the diff back out and go down to shucks or something?
Shucks? is the the yard?
Anyway.......you won\'t be able to go to a yard to get the shaft side. Nissan \"crimps\" the u-joins on and they are not replaceable because of this. This also means that the companoin flanges are not replaceable. Not by the regular back yard mechanic anyway. That\'s why I said you will probably need to take the shaft to a driveline shop. You can probably get an R200 flange to match yours from a shop.
Seeing as I had two of the same cars and had different flanges I\'d say that hitting a shop will be your best bet.
hmmm I see so what should I do tow my car down and have the make it to fit or just take my drive shaft out and take it down? Oh well I guess I can save this part for last now
The problem here is you need to have a companion flange that is the same as the one you have in the car now. You might need to bring either the flange that is on the diff or the whole diff itself to match up the correct one that you need.
This could start to get a bit sticky.
dang that is gonna suck if i have to tear everything i just did back out Sad oh well just means ill know what not to do again hmmm maybe I can have it done at school
Yup. Just a quick question.....
Did you put blue lock-tight on the 6 bolts that hold the axle to the hub? If not you really need to.
no i didnt but i did tighten them as much as I could with my wrenches? locktite you say I happen to have a lip stick style tube of it I guess im in luck.
I\'d like to hear how this turns out for you. It\'s really straight foreward. Just interested to see how it goes.
ok this rilly suckes for me but i can not fin an 87-89 300zx with turbo so what els is there to do need to know so i can get better at drifting
the onlything you NEED is experience.
practice, practice and more practice is the only way to really get good.
LSD, power and good suspension help, but if you don\'t have the skill/experience, you\'ll be no good still.
i am good but need to get the lsd to be better
Im just Curious cause i was thinking of maybe swapping my 2way KAAZ LSD in a open diff Casing from my 240 S13 into my S12 1987? I would assume yes?? I just would like a confirmation thats all Cheesy
Just bought myself a S12 and im new to this forum!!
Thanks!

Hi, ofcourse Im such a nice guy so. i took some pictures today when i painted the diffrential black. And took the halfshafts of the diffrential. And i must say that it was really easy. they just plopped out. took maximum 1minuter per side.
here is the pictures of the prosedure, hopefully it will help someone in the process of removing them.
