i'm a new member here proud to say, and also very new to these cars. i have no clue about anything. so i was wonderin if any of you could help out. i am about to buy a 85 200sx but its a ca20e, are there any big problems with this engine and i would have to say i was goin for the vg30 engine but can't find that any where. if it is possible, can i swap them out? and how much do those engines usally run?
Welcome to the club, please update your profile so that we know where you are from. Nissan has put the VG in everything from The Maxima, to the Z31, to the Pathfinder, so finding one shouldn't be that hard. They can be picked up for about 500-1000 fully running and ready to go. As far as installing it the main thing you have to concern yourself with is the VG cross member which is different from the other S12 models. However installing a VG into an S12 is not a difficult swap.
You'll need the engine bay harness and the S-12 oil pan for the VG. Personally since you have the CA I'd stick with that.......go for a turbo. Some of these guys have done some really amazing stuff with these cars. Bart is the gurru of sorts to be asking questions of on the CA.
ehh just get yourself a ca18et to swap in its a perfect fit and much easier to mod for power... and it'll be just the same workk sourcing a ca18et with harness as it would be for the vg
