i have an 85 irs hatch that had a ca20 in it from standard
i was just wondering wat diff ratio they came with from standard??
is it 3.7, 3.9, 4.11, 4.3???

either 4.09, 4.10, or 4.11

doesn't really matter too much cause it's all pretty close anyways. i'm leaning towards 4.10 tho.

i got 4.11 in my IRS 85 ca20e gazelle

it depends if it's an auto or manual.

for instance H190's have a 3.9:1 for the auto, and a 4.1:1 for the manual.

Nah back to front manuals always have a taller ratio, would be 4.11 auto and 3.9 manual.

gonna have to dispute that ...

autos are short a gear or 2 (3 or 4spd) so they tend to have the lower numerical gear set to make up for the lack of a 5th gear.

I agree with Mr200, the 4:11's would be for the manual, but isn't it the same for both on these cars? I Know the VG cars with the R200's are like 3.90's, don't know if it makes a difference if it were auto or manual. Most cars theres a difference but have never seen anything on our cars on that.

Every FSM I have seen has the CA cars with the 4.11 and the VG cars with a 3.90. Doesn't matter the trans used.

Yah despite the lack of the extra gear for us auto's we still have the 4.11 as the turbo guys. But us CA20 guys have a R180 as opposed to the R200 in the turbo, and the 3.90 R200 in the VG...

iB6uB9date not saved · #16

from what you have just told me i have 4.11's

iB6uB9date not saved · #17

it doesnt matter what diff ratio i have now because there is nothing left of my diff, going for a quick ride round the block, went for second gear and there was nothing there, when i turn it there is no clunking there is just no drive at all, 30 min walk home to get my 4x4 to tow it home

ok these are the official ratios for s12s, straight from the S12 workshop manual.

H190:

M/T - 3.7:1 (3.9 optional)
A/T - 3.9:1 (4.1 optional)

R200:

M/T CA - 3.7:1
A/T CA - 3.9:1
M/T FJ - 4.1:1

Does anyone know the R180 ratio with the NapsZ motors? Also I thought the turbo cars had 4.11 R200's a few S30 guys have used them.
