Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has welded there diff in their non IRS version s12.
Whether you have blown any diffs or has caused any problems at all:)
Ive got an sr20det at home and want to drop it in a an s12.

i had a non IRS gazelle and i blown da diff
and i also have an IRS gazelle and i think i broke 1 of the gears, im not sure but i replaced it already, honestly u r better of with an IRS gazelle and put da R200 diff in there cz the are much stronger , LSD which is v good.
i think u get da r200 diff of an old 300zx turbo or r30 skyline (((good luck findin 1)))

how many diffs did u blow an how long did u hav it for. was it welded properly

Ive got a soild axle gazelle and it is powered by an SR20DET, and it has a welded locker, so far so good.

thanks mate, how long has it bee like that? and do you drive it fairly often?:)

i have been drivin gazelles for the last 3 year or more i own 2 but i forgot to mantion that i never did the welder job, cz i don't know/think if they with handle it ....

We all know that the live axle monts tend to wear out with high output power, and they ain't da best 4 driftin

honeslty Ashly i was goin to buy ur car of too_much_boost but i didn't want to go thro convertin it to IRS, cz im a lazy bum, anyways good luck 2 u all...

At the end of the day it all comes back to the driver!

The live axle is just fine for drifting, need to keep an eye on the 4 link mounts and maybe re-enforce them at times but the IRS has alot of camber out on the track, it's a little hard to control when you have some especially shite tyres on it but not to bad. I was supposed to have a vid of me and FLY PSI drifting ready this weekend but it's been put off for a bit now pending a DVD copy of the footage. The H190 is a pretty strong unit, i've heard of welded H190s taking big power in bluebirds etc on the dragstrip. I have driven both types and the live axle is better for most things IMHO. My IRS was pretty nasty to drive until i changed the springs and shocks to K-Macs and Konis.

contrary to popular belief, you can get LSDs for H190s. you just gotta be patient.

i have a Nismo 1.5-way coming tomorrow.

'they' reckon the side plate on the standard centre (the crown-wheel side) will explode if you're not careful. i guess slicks + VHT drag strip would do this.

i'm told most of the H190 a/market LSDs have a billet steel side plate to counter this.

Is it a New nismo centre? and where di you get it from? im after a 2way to replace my locker.

Umai Naadate not saved · #10

nah it's 2nd hand. cost me a fortune!!

i got it through speed technology. god knows where they got it from.

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #11

Yeah they aren't common, i've seen only one or two for sale ever, they are around $1000 last i saw, but i guess you have to be lucky and find one or have someone find one for you.

i paid $1650 for mine including freight from melbourne.

i actually rang the guy to see if they sell a KAAZ LSD for the H190 (they make one for the R180, though). he said he'd talk to someone who knew a little more about H190's than he did, and then he rings me up 2 days later saying he found a Nismo 1.5-way for me!!

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #13

So now you can cross 'no diff' off your list in your sig hehe

salps12date not saved · #14

Daamn $1650...

Im going to pay $1350 for my Cusco item. Straight fit for the R180! Mmm

Full of mechanical goodness :) go salps12.
When will you be ready for dori dori? Not the 20th i guess :(...you should at least come and have a look tho :).

salps12date not saved · #16

I wish i could be ready by the 20th

Are you and fly going to be at the skid pan on the 20th? Can i be a passenger?? :D

Im waiting till xmas till i start the rego process as ill be getting some $$$.
Then by the time the fats drift day comes along i will have my castor mods done, diff, rear sway bar, new rear rims and tyres :headbang:

You going in the twilight drift comp or the fats drift day? Im definetly going to be at the fats drift day, will be good to see how much my car has improved time and handling wise!!

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #17

Bring a helmet and $30 and IDA will be happy to let you go in any car hehe. Oh bring some tyres for me too perhaps hahaha j/k
I'm not 100% on what i'll be going to yet, twilight drift requires me to take half a day off work but i'm still keen to go as is FLY PSI, fatz day i dunno yet.

I prefer 205x55 R16 :), i'm going to see what i can find today tho around here. Other than that i only have 14" rims, got two new tyres for one tho and a single half gone 15" Rim (needs a friend or somthing to go with it haha). Got a stack of 15" tyres but no rims yet :(

Ive got 2 stock s12 rims which are 15', also has two decent tyres on it too!
They were the rims i used on the track day last year. Produces a nice amount of smoke too ;)

Could be usefull, i have about 6 semi worn out 205x65 R15s i think (slightly bigger than normal on a S12 anyways). I can give you some of them if you like later on, i'm going to be constantly collecting tyres and shit now that there is several drift cars to put em all on.
