Yes I have insurance

Theres still hope it can be fixed.

OK update..........front left guard is ****ed. Strut and something to do with my steering (i think bearing) is ****ed too. Also i need a new rim, the tire looks fine atm and there seems to be no chassis damage on the car.

Total Price of repair? : $500-700 and thats if there isn't any chassis damage. I'll be glad if there isn't.

For all to know, I shall be repairing my baby. It'll still have some scratches. on the passenger door and front guard is screwed, but nothing i can't fix later on down the track.

I'll try to get some pictures.

Glad to hear that you are going to rebuild her. But people come on, we got to start being more cautious...this is about the 5th car wrecked so far this year!!

Hughdate not saved · #9

yes cautious is the main thing here.....it isn't fun to crash the S12.....and I just hope there isn't any chassis damage.

Love your cars, don't do anything stupid like i did.....it hruts cause i love my S12 to bits.

******!!! crashed yesterday with my other car (luckily?), a 1986 toyota carina, i was coming to a kerb when i noticed that the front tires lost traction, so i step off the gas and prepare to brake, at the time i get my foot on the brake pedal im allready plowing the sidewalk, as im just starting to brake i hit a goddamn lamp-post... well u can guess what it happens to an old car from the 80s, the front end is 50cm shorter and the engine has moved back on one side about 15 cm... well the lamp-post got its part to, it moved 50cm backwards and it now lies in a 75 degrees angle, but im not even pissed since no one got hurt and i dont mind even if the car was written off, and that i got a ticket (72 euros). And the oddest thing is that teh speed while hitting it was about 40 and **** the car is a half meter shorter... geez im so lucky i didnt drive my s12! Otherwise my life would have been shattered.. be careful out there!!

I have a left hand side door that is good, and I have some left hand guards lying around somewhere also, they are not as good as the door, but not accident damaged. I'm in Brisbane, but if you have an avenue to get them to Adelaide, (e.g. Booths transport go to adelaide from Brisbane, I got a pallet of stuff from there cost me $70). You can have them for not to much if you need them.

yeah caution.........one thing to say it, the next thing is to do it............and when it comes to driving these fun lil S12's, how much caution to you's really exert? i know i dont really think too much untill i have a near miss or a spin out, then i might take it easy for a day or two. As i see it, no point having a fun, fast, light, sports car, and drive it like a volvo.

go out there and have fun, just be careful..............but not a "bloody volvo driver!"

sorry bout the car Hugh, but they aint rocket science to fix, and there's enuff aussie S12 members here who'll be able to help u out. you'll have it up and running within a week if u want.

catch

Hughdate not saved · #16

Finding the parts to fix the s12 - $280
Slab of beer for the mechanics - $37
Driving my S12 again in about 2 weeks - Priceless :D

Good to hear mate keep us posted im glad another s12 didnt bite the dust

Hughdate not saved · #18

Car is up and running again!

Yup, amazing that there wasn't much more damage but i helped replace the front guard and the steering rack end and then went to a wheel alligner and no biggie...it's all fixed...

I'll get pics up soon.

It's looking really shit atm....the lights/or bonnet is a bit warped..the panel is a different colour and the front bumper is a bit mangled. I also don't have another parking light yet O_O

All in all, shes running again so i couldn't be more happier :D
