noise (not clunking!) from Diff..
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Apr 2005" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
Have you checked the fluid level in the diff? I've never really noticed any significant whine from my R200.
the noise isn't good thing. the gears are whining due to worn out ring and pinion. I don't think adding gear oil will fix this now. How long ago has the oil been changed?
All I have to say is prey you can save the gears. They are out of production (3.90:1) and if you can get em they're around $550 or so before shipping.
Unless of course you get lucky and find an SE in a yard with a good diff.
my 84 turbo does this.... does the noise change with how much you are on the gas in 5th?
yup!! at around 3k rpm i can start to hear it, and from there, its dictated by how much gas i give it...crappy..the gear oil was changed in the spring..
Guess I best check my oil too!
mine really doesn't show up till about 78-79 mph at about 82 it sounds like a train in my hatch
yea..its louder than my exhaust (2.5" 40 series flowmaster...)..at the same speed..
