ok i know this should probably be like in the general tech section, but i figured more people would see it here and i need to get this sorted out ASAP.. like by tomorrow!
i need to know, what i can used as nuts on the studs that connect the manifold to the exhaust pipe.. when i put the engine back together i used different studs than the stock ones, but now i havnt be able to find any ALL Metal lock nuts that will work on them :x "DOH"!!
so what can you guys suggest i use that will work,.. needs to resist high temp, so nylon lock nuts obviously wont work,.. i also tried locking washers.. but the high temps also caused them to flaten out rendering them useless.. so right now i've got a locking washer, then a nut, and then another nut on top of that.. and i think its kinda working.. but i'd like to know if there is a better solution???
help with exhaust manifold nuts!

Napa has both lock nuts, and lock washers that are suitable for high temps like that of an exhaust mani...
thanks! i'll go check them out this afternoon!
You need to find some " Stover" all metal locking nuts. The holes are not round so there is no way they can back off by themselves. I have them on my turbo and manifold, and have never had a problem with them loosening even WITHOUT using the locking plates from Nissan. Here's some info about them....... http://www.rbwmfg.com/stover.htm

well the thing is i need them by tomorrow.. and i've searched just about every store i can think off in town.. napa, wilder's nuts and bolts, agri-supply, hudson's hardware, ace hardware, pep boys, and the list goes on.. no one has anything!!!
This is a long shot, and I don't know for how long it will work, but you could try red locktite...
red locktite will smoke after about 10 minutes...it's only corn syrup. i tried it on my sr20'd 240. i got the "stover style" nuts at my nissan dealer awhile back
Use stainless steel split type lockwashers. They should be available at any good nut and bolt shop or maybe even Lowes or Home Depot.
