My mum automatically fitted some things on my car cause it was dead.....now i'm paying a shit load back....here are the stats.

New alternator
4 new tires
wheel balance and allinment

Total cost $720!!!!!!!!

Was I ripped off?

The alternator was $330 ALONE! apparently came from nissan.

sounds about right dude, i wouldn't pay $330 for an alt myself but i got quoted $430 for one here when mine went, i modified a rb30e one for a vl that i picked up $50 from supercheap for mine...tyres, good ones allways work out at $100 a corner with balancing etc so i wouldn't worry to much...cant skimp on tyres they can save your life...having said all this at the moment $700 would kill me

my alt...new $250(alt + core), not OEM.

wheel balance. $10 a tire

4 wheel alignment $79

4 fresh all seasons stock size...around $100 per tire.

before taxes $766CDN

after taxes $877cdn

roughly 961.785 AUD

so looks like you got a good deal.

well then sounds ok.....just peeved cause i was quoted about 208 for a new alternator from repco (car part place)......so 208 to 333 is a big jump

yeah i got one quoted from repco around that price went to pick it up and "o we have them for pintaras" yeah well they use a sepentine belt so that doesn't help does it! so i got the vl one which is a serpentine like the pintara but switched the pulley

When my alternator went, I bought a brand new Bosch unit made for a 1988 Maxima for the added amperage. I probably could have sourced one from a junked 300ZX, but there's always the chance of that one going in a couple months and then having to replace it again. I need my car solid and reliable, so I ponied up the $220 cdn and got this new one with a 5 year warranty on it. They offered me this weird-name one with a 3-year warranty for $190, but I trust the Bosch name a little more. Plus having a new alternator looks sexy in the engine bay, gleaming new silver. ;)

I sure hope Nissan is offering a similar warranty on their alternator for $330. :p

I just hand mine rewound for 115 amps. Cost.......$160 USD.

eek! Spent too much on the alt. If it doesn't last as long as the original did you should wrap it in newspaper and throw it through the dealership's window.

I think that's a little steep with $80 tires (pretty decent) a recon'd $125 alt the $40 balancing and 1 hour of Nissan labor (about 75) for the alignment. Total I got was 560.

yep. sounds like it. Mine's off a 240sx 80amp.

You're just lucky cuz you have the V6 so you can do that... lol... my damn S12 has a V-Groove setup... =( Going to swap that to a Serpintine as soon as I get the chance...
