I was thinking about disconnecting my fuel pump from the tank and hookign up a beefy in line pump any ideas?

Unless you are making 250+ hp there is no point.

If you aren't using a surge tank just replace the in tank with a higher flowing one ie walbro.

the stock pump puts out 97lph so its good for about 230-250hp.. a walbro 190 woudl be a good one to get...

i already have a holy one and i jsut wanted to use it

If you already have it you may as well use it, just make sure that you have a pressure regulator...

Holley doesn't make an external High Pressure EFI fuel pump. The only external EFI fuel pumps they make are for TBI systems which operate at 15 psi. If the fuel pump you have looks anything like this....

then there is about a 99.9% chance that it is a pump for a carb which operates at around 7 psi.

Just so you know, your car should have around 40psi of fuel pressure at idle.

WOW hey man thanx i didnt know that
and that is the pump i was gonna get
yeah it said 14 psi so i was liek well i guess thast good
WHERE can i get an external pump for my s-12

You can look at http://www.summitracing.com or http://www.jegs.com. Look for a pump that is specified for use with high pressure EFI systems. I still don't think you need an external pump though. Pumps like that Holley pump are made for use with a fuel cell. They must be mounted in the dry, so you cant mount them under the car. Also, you can't mount them in the engine bay because they would be too far away from the tank. There are external pumps that you can mount under the car. They look like intank pumps, they just have an inlet and an outlet hose barb. BTW, external fuel pumps are LOUD.

External pumps are dangerous and can give off very very strong pertol smell inside of the car if not installed properly. Also if they leak then you can run the risk of having a fire in the cabin.

No point to an external unless you run a surge tank and if your running an external pump you might as well get one!

You guys cant be running more power than me or neb atm so there is seriously no point. I was running my stock intank pump from a CA20E on my CA18DET fine for weeks. Didnt run the car over 9psi tho!

No power gain unless your stock pump is dead or on its way out!

My 2c ;-)

Even a non leaking properly enclosed surge tank system smells of fuel, not the healthiest feeling if you are in a hatchback.
