A friend of mine's got an RB25 tranny sitting in his shop with no 2nd gear synchros. Will this tranny bolt up to anything besides an RB? Like an SR20 maybe? Just wondering if I should snag this before he does something with it. I'm not sure how I would find parts to rebuild it anyway, but I'm just brainstorming... :D

RB tranny

I've converted nissan boxes to run on different engines a couple of times, e.g. 'b' series box into a 67 datsun 2000 roadster, L series engine, 'b' type box onto a CA motor etc. Each time all I had to do was get the front section, (bell housing) of a box that would match the engine and swap it on to the donor box and then it fitted the engine. i.e. unbolt the front section of the box at the sandwich plate and then bolt on the bell housing that matched the motor.
if it's free grab it.... never can have too much free junk laying around. transmissions can be used to barter other goods as well
Yeah, I'm sure he's not gonna give it to me for free... He's a friend of mine, but he thinks he's got something super cool there. I wonder if the FWD SR20 bellhousing would be adaptable to something. Man, I'm jacking my own thread.
it's the same as the z32 turbo trans internally, A RWD belhousing will "weld" on to the trans then you will need a custom clutch (look no further than here for the clutch) to fit the new input shaft spline.
This configuration is what 90% of the sr20 drag racers use because this trans is very stout.
Have it rebuilt with z32 components and shotpeened and cryo treated.\

Cool, I might try and pick it up then. Just wanted to make sure parts would be available...
