I cant find a repair manual for my 87 200sx, so in return simple things like finding out why my gauge/dashlights dont work is an out right mistery! I've checked all my fuse's located by my glove compartment all of them are good. I've tore my gauge cluster out and replaced all the bulbs. What's next is there any other fuse's somewhere else? I read in a thread that an easy way to check if it's a fuse is by seeing if you have tail lights when you turn your lights on and I do. Please describe how to fix it in detail if anyone can help. Thankyou. Help, I'm going insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's some crazy wiring down behind the radio. I cut some wires down there by accident one time that led to the radio, and all of my dash lights quit working.......so if your stock radio has been replaced without the use of a wiring kit....you might want to check down there first.......I don't remember what color wire I cut since it was like 10 years ago.....sorry.

the other thing to check would be the dimmer on the dash. I don't know what year you have so it could be a knob or an electrical type.

Do your marker lights work? If they don't check that little switch above the fuses. It will be a small black switch in the fuse panel next to the glove compartment that turns off all your dash, gauge, and marker lights, that one had puzzled for a while. Oh yeah check those red lights in your door panels, they are also turned off by that switch

O.k. my factory stereo has been replaced, and there is a bunch of cut wires so now I just have to find which wire it is......... My side marker lights work everything works except climate control lights gauge lights.... :wall:

Yep......I bet you that those loose wires behind the radio is the culpret. If you can just pull all the loose wires aside in there and match the colors up to piece them back together.......I think that will fix it.
I still have a hot pink wire that ran to the radio thats loose down there that I think controls the dimmer switch, because the dimmer hasn't worked since I pulled out the factory radio. I may take it apart tomorrow and see where it needs to go. I think it need a 12v source???
Anyway............good luck

Cool well I found the problem.... IT WAS THE WIRES BEHIND THE STEREO it was a "pink wire with red dots" and a "red wire with a white stripe" So what I did was I taped the wires into the two wires that went to the light in the ash tray. THANK YOU KEITH!!!!!!!!

Hey.....no problem. I felt your same frustration about 10 years ago.
I still need to look behind mine at that pink/red wire as it's not attached to anything, and i'm pretty sure this is the power wire for the dimmer switch. which in my case doesn't work.

We have a dimmer? if we do can someone inform me where its located plz?

Mine switch is located on the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, next to the switch that pops up and down my head lights.
It hasn't worked in many many years due to cut wires down behind the radio.
