Anyone have an lsd?
If you have an lsd in your s12 plz let us know a lil info on what lsd it is, how to install, and what type of lsd?
I was just wondering because im considering going to the junkyard and pulling out an lsd from a turbo z31 87-89.

Anyone have an lsd?
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Sep 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
from what I've read, the only Z31 LSD that will work for us is the one from an '88 Shiro Special
which are very few and far between.
another option is getting a VLSD from a S13 240sx and swapping the internals.

thats the vlsd version and ive been tolld that one wont work but any clutch lsd will
I would think that any long nose R200 would fit complete.
I have a R31 (i think) 4 pinion clutch pack LSD with shafts from a Z31 300ZX.
I know this is a bolt up although i can't confirm the tailshaft since mine is a custom one to go up to the SR20 gearbox, i imagine it would bolt up to though.
Ive read on the old forums that any lsd from a z31 turbo 87-89 will work. teh 87 is a clutch type and 88-89 only came with viscous.
So it doesnt have to only be an 88. plus when i looked at a z31 the other day the rear end looks really similar im sure you can swap flanges from each other and make it bolt up like other emmbers said on the old forums.
Wrong wrong wrong. Too much misinformation. All mid 87-89 Turbo Z31's in the US came with clutch type LSD's. The only exception is the 88 Turbo Z31 SS, which came with a viscous type LSD. Any clutch type LSD from a Z31 will bolt directly in. The viscous type will bolt in, but you also need the halfshafts from the same car, and I believe you need the rear hubs as well. This has been discussed to death, so I don't know why people keep asking and others are still giving out wrong information. For the love of Pete, SEARCH! There are a lot of options. I have a Quaife in my car.
i have asked this question before but did not get a good anwser so i will ask again, if the 89-94 s13 VLSD internels can be swap into our cars, does this mean the nismo cluch LSD for the s13 can be swaped in?
As long as you have a 12mm ring gear bolt R200, yes.
Now that all the good right information is here, this should be stickied..8)
Nah, no sticky ... too many piling up
But I will take the RELEVANT info from this post into an FAQ ... and eventually a "How To VLSD" with pics
Just to add more info,
ONLY THE MKII TURBOS AND VGS HAVE THE 12MM R200
"ONLY THE MKII TURBOS AND VGS HAVE THE 12MM R200"
that is good information, does anyone know what is required to swap an R200 into a car with a R180 in it? please dont say driveshaft or axles...
Not sure about the driveshaft, but you would definitely need the halfshafts (axles). The R200 is quite a bit larger than the R180.
what are the options with non irs???
For live axle, option 1 find the very rare H190 LSD centre, option 2 put in an IRS (costly) + LSD, option 3 swap to another live axle that has easily available centres (ie toyota hilux etc, not as costly as IRS conversion i don't think).
Mine's H190 off a 1985 720 LSD that I had ordered from Japan which took them a 4 1/2 months to send to me. I won't have time now to install it though. But I have it. The pinion sizes 3.889 are identical to the 720s of that time. I'll let you guys know when I have it in. Too much crap is happening all at once rite now.
Hmm, what's the H233? Is it in any way related to the H190?
I found an LSD for a Nissan H233
