Do a compression check it sounds like your head gasket might have gone.
i know my head gasket blew. i jus replaced it. what im asking is how do i get the coolant out of my oil system?
Draining your oil seems like a logical approach. Personally, I'd drain the oil, then refill it. Maybe run it for a few minutes, drain it and refill it again, and you should be fine.
I believe there is adatives you can put in your oil to flush the system, put it in run the motor for a bit then drain and fill with clean oil.
thats what i was thinking. but i had called a shop and they said to:
1: drain the oil
2: put a quart of tranny fluid in, which i question to the 100th power.
3: take an air hose and blow it all out through the oil pour and out the pan.
4: run a few oil changes in it.
so i was jus getting other insight b4 i went and did somthing stupid. i still believe ill stay to jus the oil changes and stay away from the tranny fluid. something wit that jus doesnt sit right. pllzz explain how this works if u know y.
Also, be sure to change your oil filter as well, probably each time you change out that oil. I have to get the water out as well, some moron hook the heater line to the pvc valve and immediatly got water sucked in where it didn't belong. Thought I had a blown head gasket. I was thinking of using like some diesal fuel additive that removes water from the fuel, or run a can or to of that 5 min oil system flush and change the oil a few more times and see what that does.
Can yoou still get flushing oil? Im sure ive seen it for sale over here.
If not you could do what others have sugested use some cheap oil with a normal flush, run the car for 1/4 an hour or so then drain it again then fill up with some good oil that should do it.
If you put one qt of trans fluid on the oil, run the engine for about 5 min or so and then drain it, you won't hurt anything. The trans fluid has detergents in it that will help clean out the block. It also can help with stuck rings if they are not too bad.
I have seen this done many times with no after effects.
ty guys but i think im going to have to let a mechanic look at this one. no matter how much i try i cant get the car to work. so i guess thats that
They sell flush here, and if Canada gets it ... everywhere does.
Tranny fluid (or power steering fluid) won't hurt a motor. It's actually an old trick for cleaning your valvetrain on carbed cars. Hold the throttle open with the car running, pour in some tranny fluid, drive the crap out of the car.
It's exactly what Randy said. There's a lot of detergent in tranny fluid, and it's super super viscous. If you take 1 tsp of ATF and drip it at the top of your driveway, it will flow down the driveway, down the street, around a corner ... etc. So it will get everywhere in the motor and give it a good clean.
Now, for advice I'm not sure to take. A mechanic just offered me this tidbit for putting the new sure grip/gear set in the Charger.
"When you're about to button up the diff, take a whole banana, skin and all. Mush it in real good. Bolt er up and go."
WTF?
A banana?
maybe that's why diff fluid smells so bad? lol.
i heard the same thing. also put saw dust in it? wtf but i dont know about those tricks.
maybe that's why diff fluid smells so bad? lol.
It is worse when the interior of your car still smells like 10 year old LSD fluid from a Q45...I can't get it to go away...*lol*
fill your motor up with diesel or kerosine and let it run for 10 minutes or so drain it and fill it with cheap mineral oil run it for about 20 minutes and fill with cheap oil again let it run for about 20 miles and drain and refill
