Ok Ok, im new to the boards and have been around for a while just never posted. well here is the story. i bought a 84' 200sx a while back and needed to change a few things to get it running the way i wanted it to. all the shocks were blown, brakes were bad, spark plugs. . . u get the picture. At this point so far so good. Then i get to the fuel filter (which didn't have to be changed but i wanted a new one.) Anyways i changed it like the boards said and the car didn't start :dontknow: well recheck everything and all was good but still nothing. just cranks. So i installed the old one back in and still nothing. yes i have fuel, fuse is in that connection in the hatch is plugged in. All is good but the car wont start. If anyone has any light to shead on this that would be great cuz i've had the car for over a month now and have driven it only twice and that was around to block.
Current mods. plat +4 plugs, x2 MSD blaster2 coils, replacement ing cap/rotor, stock 15" steelies from a s13, gr2 and gas-a-just soon to be installed, complete soild rear end coilover system in the works.
Fuel Filter Problem
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Sep 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
This happened to one of my friends. I don't remember what he was doing, but he had the return line swaped with the feed line. I don't know if you had the fuel system broke down far enough thow. Also check and see if the fuel pump is working. You should hear it when you turn the key to ACC. Is the fuse still good?
Welcome to the board!!!
Im sure the fuel pump is working cuz when i changed back to the old filter i missed a few steps and got blasted with a half gallon of pressurized fuel. it seemed like the fuel was getting blocked at the filter and not getting to the injectors.
I don't know that's why im asking. . . i just wanna pratice drifting :-?
Most filters you CAN put on backwards. I know it sounds simple, but that's all I can come up with right now... :dontknow:
What Joel means is, the filter will go on backwards, but it won't work. So make sure it's on the right way, it should have arrows on it to indicate the direction of flow.
Yeah, thanks, after I read that just now, it was kinda stupidly worded... :hit:
typical american...LOL j/k j/k
typical american...LOL j/k j/k
Now now, we can't make fun of American's too much, I mean if it wern't for Bush getting elected, we would still have the worst leader of a country...8) But provincially McGuinty still wins as being the worst...god that guy's a moron!!!
Thanks for the replys everyone. so far things remain the same. yeah i've looked at all the simple problems the fuel filter is in with the flow "arrow" in the right direction. I should get a hold of Radracer_S i know he also has a soild rear so i can get tips from him :burnout:
ok lets see hmm turn the key to acc fro about 1-2 min then go check the line press the tod fuel rubber line or the fuel intake line adn see if it has pressure if not ur pump is not working. If it is well then unhook teh ecu and the + mbatter cable fro 15 min then try to start it
then let me know if it works
How do you change a petrol filter? DO you need to bleed it or what? can i just pull off the hoses and then then take out the old one and put the new one in>?
i have a 300zx TT fuel filter on my s12
they're the same part ...
Anyway, yeah, you can just unhook the lines.
But be careful, they may still be pressurized. I think the manual says to pull the pump fuse to relieve pressure.
I just unscrew the clamp slowly and avert my eyes ...
Oh yeah, and put out your smoke too ;)
So you're getting fuel to the filter, but not into the motor? Maybe the rail is plugged?
FPR might be buggered too
Well as an update to those trying to help.
The fuel pump is working (fuse in)
i haven't checked the pressure though
car cranks but doesn't turn over (does so when the fuse is out)
also resets itself after i pull the key.
all the fuses are in good shape (what is the on off switch for on fuse box)

That is a storage switch...it prevents the battery from draining if you plan to store the car for any length of time. If you want the car to start make sure this switch is in the on position...8)
