okay guys...are you 100% SURE that the front speakers in the hatch can't hold 6 1/2" midbass speakers???

cause I just replaced my rears with 6x9(sounds a lot better now btw :D) and I have a set of 5 1/4" speakers that i was going to replace the fronts with...but I figured...wouldn't it be better if I could use the 6 1/2" components from the rear in the front?...

so I ask you guys again...are you SURE that I can't fit the 6 1/2" speakers up front? as for the tweets..I figured I'd probably just drill a 2" hole in the door itself and mount them there. probably make a lil wedge or something to point it into the center of the cabin.

..i think that if you bend the metal back, you COULD fit 6.5" speaks in there....i have 5.25" and there was some excess room..hell, just get a sawzall and cut out a big enuff opening...just leave tabs to screw in the speakers..

yeah, that's what im planning - speakers on the outside of the door. watch trusting people here though man, everyone was all "back of the notch has 5.25s", so i boguht a set, turns out they're 6.5's. i wasnt about to go back to store so i routed out some cool brackets but yeah.

The front speakers on my '84 hatch are 6". 6.5" speakers should be no problem, you'll just have to open the whole up a bit. If the newies are too deep, you may need to put a spacer on the trim. If your components are the stock ones i wouldnt bother with them as their max power means they'll just annoy you. Otherwise ill assume they're the cadence ones you had in mind a while ago? Also, i would recommend placing the tweets up high on the front door pillars on the chassy. Tweets are v. directional and you'll get a much clearer sound if they are away from the midrange. Especially because the doors will act like a semi-sealed box, and you'll probably miss quite a range from the tweets.

And to all the non-believers, 6x9s CAN and do fit quite snugly in the stock rear position..
