Yeah it finally happened all the clutch kicks and hard shifting did my clutch in. I was going down the road and i noticed when i tried to speed up to pass some one that when i gave it gas the car would just chatter and shake. and then i started grqadually losing speed. I mean 35mph in 5th gear at 4K rpm seem a little odd? That should be like 80MPH! well i stopped and there the car stayed until i could get a tow.

So those of you that have instaled a new clutch in your s12\'s i have some questions

1) What kind of clutch did you get (i ordered an exeddy)
2) how hard was it to put in?
3) did you have to resurface the flywheel or did you get a new one
4) was the clutch pedel harder. Requireing more effort?

I bought a factory clutch through Nissan for mine.  Clutches aren\'t hard to put in, as long as you know how to turn a wrench.  You just have to drop the tranny, which also involves dropping the y-pipe of the exhaust, the driveshaft, the starter, and don\'t forget to disconnect the two sensor connectors on the tranny.  It\'s also a good time to change your tranny fluid.  Always get the flywheel resurfaced when replacing the clutch.  It\'s not expensive, so it\'s good practive to just get it done.  The clutch pedal with a new factory clutch will not make the clutch pedal any harder.

has anyone put in a centerforce clutch?

JohnnyfiveAug 31, 2004, 2:49 am · #5

I\'ll be putting one in soon. One_equals_two has one in his car. I don\'t remember how he said it felt. I\'d ask him about. Although I do remember he said he now has problems with the clutch releasing all the way but I don\'t think it would be from the clutch

how much was the kit and where did you get it? did the kit have all the pieces like the disc, pressure plate, throw bearing, etc?

i got mine thru a source but they normally run about 280-310 for everything minus the throw out bearing

oh i forgot to mention i am using a centerforce clutch from a 97 240sx not from the 200sx.. its rated a 90% increase(240sx) so in my car that about 110-120% increase in holding capacity
