Hey, I'm looking for suggestions on places that sell CA18DET's, preferably with full, uncut harnesses. Not really looking for a front cut, just a longblock and harness with all/most sensors and turbo. I'm in Canada (Victoria, BC), but don't really mind getting something from the states if it's a good price. Anyone care to share their experiences with suppliers?

this is a place in Calgary, they don't list the CA18DET but they can get them.

JDM cannot get these engines believe me i waited for 3 months with no luck. If you want a good source do a search on "nissan infiniti club owners" or "nico" forum. I am unsure of there URL but if you google it you will find theres lots of good guys on there but make sure you use the search feature on there forum or they will complain.

I just got one from Engine Depot with tranny and uncut harness for $1200us shipped. They're located in Hoboken, NJ. Talking to them, they just got a big shipment in from Japan that they are still sorting through. Here's their number: 1-800-217-9930

a member of the NICO forums can get engines and trannies. His SN is PULSARGTR, here's the e-mail he sent me.

"I usually get about 2-5 ca18det every month, but all the
engines that I get have a cut harness, so you will be getting a cut harness
right of the engine, starter, a/c, power steering, CAS, turbo and every
thing that bolts onto the engine, the only thing that you won't get is the
maf, ingnitor, smic or the pluming for the smic.

Here is the price, my price is 1100USD plus shipping, the price might seem a
bit pricy but here is what you get.
I will do a leak down test on the engine, I will take pictures of the
results of the leak down test, I will inspect the turbo, make sure the
tranny shifts nice, and I will include all the test results,
I also include a valve cover gasket set, half moon piece set for the valve
cover, oil pan seals, front and rear main seals
This way you will know that you are getting a clean engine."

He lives in Ottawa, Canada, so local pickup seems to be out of the question, but his shipping rates seem reasonable.

it will be a bit pricey, and none of that i am putting in my own pockets
the clips has everything you need to do the swap and will propable be around 2 grand cdn currency
the engines are in top shape, leak down test, cr test everything has a warranty as well

Whatever you do don't buy an engine with a cut harness or missing MAF, Ignitor or ECU or anything like that as the engine can't run without them. It will be a real headache and cost you heaps more to set it up in labour and parts, (HEAPS)

i see ignitors go on ebay for like 30-50bucks, ca18det mafs usually with filter go for 40-70bucks and ive seen a few full ecu wiring harnesses gor for as little as 50bucks

^^^
it's always a hussle though!
i mean it can be done but why not just get the whole deal as one
1100USD it's like 1650cdn
so add everything another 200USD and it goes to 2000cdn
when you can just a clip for that amount and you have EVERYTHING every nut and bolt

just my opinion though

Thanks guys! I'll look into a few of those options. Euroboy, I'm not too hot on the whole clip thing, but thanks for the offer. Since most of my money goes to my turbo RSX, I'm not looking to spend a grip on my 200. As a Honda technician by trade, I'm not too worried about getting a motor that needs some work, since my labour is cheap :D
