Hey guy's have a problem with a coil,

the top coil that lead's in to the exhaust bank as no spark ? but the car starts has anyone had this problem or dose anyone know whats going on also the coil is brand new , hope someone can help.

Your car probably starts because you have twin coils... your exhaust side is the primary, so if you switch coils you can find out if that is the problem. most likely you have a bad ground, so putting a new ground to the coil might do the trick...8)

The one with the tacho wire is the primary.

Ok, the coil is new ... is the transformer?

With a dead transformer (the little black box that the wires to the coil come from, attached to the coil assembly) even a brand new coil won't do you any good.

if your primary coil is shot, the car won't rev much past 3,000 RPM before it dies.

But the coils are the same. So move the working unit to the primary location, and the car will run fine, just a bit rich under idle.

It'll at least get out of its own way until you get the issue sorted out.

thanks guy's I'll have a look later on today and let you know how I go .

Little black box mines blue is right behind the coil is that the one.

gazelle_Power84date not saved · #5

I only found a little bluebox not black and it's right behined the coil is that the one.

Mr.200date not saved · #6

I don't think they're blue ... well mine aren't.

Right on the actual frame work that bolts to the ignition coil, there should be a box. This is where the wiring comes from the harness to. From that black box, two wires go up to the actual ignition coil.

They are physically part of the coil assembly.

I'll try and scare up a picture

(edit)

CRAP - ok, the ca20e doesn't have the transformers. I just had a look at the fiche, and it is a ca18et thing.

So back to square one, odds are it's either the ballast resistor on the side of the coil (little ceramic dealy with 2 prongs)

or a bad ground/connection.

Any other ca20e guys know? My car's not going to be much help.

ok then, I'll put a new ground in and see what happens, asked someone I know and he said it might a crack in the rotor so i'm going to check it out aslo.

gazelle_Power84date not saved · #10

You should be able to get it from a part's store,if you can't you may have to try Nissan.

Philipn126date not saved · #11

yikes!! my bank acount doesnt like the sound of that!

gazelle_Power84date not saved · #12

I'll price one here and then you convert the price into us doller's I'll post it up sometime tomarrow .

Went to the shop today and asked for price on ballast resistor, and the guy told that there is no part listing for our model of car ,

but I had a quick look on the net and found they where from $5-$20 so there not that much.
