hey just want to know if 15x215 tires can fit the v6 s12. 205 seems kind of small. thanks
15x215 tires

to this, i meant the stock wheels that comes with the car.
What do you mean by small?
The 4 cyl cars all came with 195/60/15 tires. The 205/60/15 were standard on the v6 and an option I think on the 4 cyl.
A 215/60/15 will fit, but really it's not worth it. They would actually decrease the handling of your car because of the slightly taller sidewal of the tire.
If it were me and I wanted a wider tire I'd look into a 225/50/15. I'm not sure of clearence so doing a test fit on both the front and back is a good idea here.
The 225/50/15 is the same height as the 205/60/15 and would keep the speedo correct as well as give a larger contact patch.
If you are just looking for a taller tire then by all means go for the 215/60/15, but why would you want a taller tire on a little sports car?
eh...just my 2 cents worth.
Actually according to the '84 brochure 185/70/SR14s were standard on the Notchback Deluxe, Hatchback Deluxe, Notchback XE, and hatchback XE......While the turbo was the only model that came standard with the 195/60/HR15s.
I ran 225/50/15s for about 5 years with no problems. The edge of where the sidewall meets the top of the tire barley grazed the front strut housings.....but never enough to become dangerous. No clearance problems in the rear at all. As soon as my 205/55's wear out, I plan to go back to the 225's as they look a little better (wider).
I've got 215/60R15's on the back of my car. My tires were worn out and I got a set of them in this size for close to free, so why not. They fit fine.
On the plus side, it bites harder in a straight line and it's also a cushier ride in the back going over bumps. On the down side, the tires roll over going around cloverleafs on the freeway and you get tires squealing and a loose back end.
You can see the difference in this pic between the 205/60R15's in the front and the 215/60R15's in the back.

That's it Dan.....I'm steeling your center panel on the back.......don't try and stop me either.....I'm determined damn it!!!!
Yeah - a 225 on the stock 15x6 wheel is a little too wide. 215 is as wide as you'll want to go. The front can't take as much tire as the rear. My 16x8.5 wheels with 245 tires off of my 300ZX TT fit absolutely perfect on the rear of my car. Of course, I also have a lot of camber, which helps keep the tires inside the fenders.

Bah, all it takes is some fine grit sandpaper, a bit of turtle wax rubbing compound and some plastic polish and all that white haze just disappears.

Or he could be missing the back panel like I am...
I know about the sand paper. Mine's broken. All I have is the backing plastic exposed. All the little clips that hold the clear piece on are snaped.
do the 225/50/15's fit on the stock rims? do they look stupid? (any pics???)
They should fit fine.
People have had 245/45/17's in the back of an S12 on aftermarket rims with no rubbing.

Yeah they fit the stock rims fine. Took a little bit of muscle to get them on, but yeah they do fit. I used this size for about 4 years I think.....maybe longer. I'll have to look for a pic....but they didn't look stupid at all in my opinion. They filled out the wheel wells very nice. My only complaint was the rear would get a little squirly due to the much wider footprint on the hwy if there was any water pooling from rain.....kinda scary when all of a sudden the rpms go from 3500 to 5500 without giving it more gas.....then all of a sudden the rpms would drop back down and the rear would kick out a little as it was trying to catch traction. Might of been just a bad tire design, but I don't know. My dad actually wraped his Z32tt around a pine tree from it doing the same thing.
But anyway....I plan on going back to the 225/50's after my current ones kick the bucket
maybe i hold off...lol. mine does that now at about 65 in the rain...them goodyear bald eagles dont help tho... :hit:
