yeah i am gettin a 280z suspension kit from the guy i got my car from and i want to know how hard this will be.i know it changes to a 5 lug and all that but is handling much better. the upside is i can find stuff like springs and wheel fitments since the 280 seems more common.

280zx suspension conversion
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Aug 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
280Z's were 4 lug. Also, it is extremely difficult to find wheels for the 240/260/280Z since they run 0 offset. Not sure why you would want to convert at all. As for springs, if you're going to go to all the trouble to convert to 280Z stuff, why not convert so S13 stuff instead? Much more selection going that route anyway.
oh i see well i was gettin it for free but maybe not.
you already have 280 suspension ... hence why we need to buy 280 springs for the front.
And no, a 280Z suspension won't make the car any better, especially if its used.
Unless someone is giving you performance stuff rather than OEM. That would be cool.
Ack - just need to clarify that the 280Z and the 280ZX are two different cars, so make sure you make the distinction. Also, like Mr. 200 said, the 280ZX springs only fit the front. The rear is completely different than ours in that it is a spring on shock setup, rather than our spring being in a different location than the shock. Without quite a bit of modification, the rear spring/shock won't work on the S12.
Im working on custom fabbing spring over shock setups for the S12...I'll let you know when they are done and when I will be selling them......I have an extra (as of today got an S12 with no engine free) with an IRS, and I will be making and marketing suspension setups for the S12.......Just give me a few weeks.....let me just let you in on this.....I will be setting it up so you can use any Full coilover setup that you can use on the S13 on the S12.....

Finding coilovers that fit the top and bottom mount isn't hard, it's modifying the chassis to make them fit that is the hard part. You need to strengthen the area around the upper shock mount to take the added stress from the spring. Also, even a small 2.5in' diameter spring will not fit in the hole for the shock located in the wheel area, so that also needs to be modified. These issues aren't something you can make a "kit" for. This is custom work that has to be done by the individual.
