I bought an 87' 200sx and have yet to pick it up. I know you can figure out specs of a vehicle from the vin, but I don't know nissans code my vin is JN1PS24S0HW026819 does anybody know whats up with that?

BTW the add says 4 cyl 8 spark plugs 1.9L?

I know that there is not a 1.9 liter period, and the guy also says the car is an 87.

first off, welcome to the club!

well its not 1.9L.. its 2.0L, which is the CA20E ,.. my car is an '88 but has JN1P also.. i think the P is for the CA20E cars, and V is for VG30E cars (and i dont know what Turbo's have) b/c my SE has like JN1V, or something similar..

anyways.. yes it does have 8 spark plugs, 4 on the intake side and 4 on the exhaust side

its got like 100hp and somewhere in that range in torque too..

nothing too spectacular but if their well maintained they're good reliable cars

hope you have fun with your new S12!

Thanks, I figured it was that motor. If my new 200 is anything like my 240sx Ii'm sure I will love it.

The VIN code for the U.S. motors are:

P: CA20E
C: CA18ET
V: VG30E (87-88 only)

hell whenever, as far as my vg goes its still in FL and here is a break down of the VIN from one of my early posts:

Ok so im fliping through my FSM for the first time and guess what i find...... Well any way here is the info.

Example VIN from book:

JN1 P S 2 4 S * J W 000101

JN1: Nissan Passenger Car
P: CA20E (C=C18ET, V=VG30E)
S: Nissan 200sx
2: Model Change (0-9) ?still dont know what it means though
4: 2 door coupe (6=3 door hatchback)
S: Restraint System (S=Standard)
*: Check Digit (0-9 or X) The book says its determined mathematicaly
J: 1988
W: Kyushu
XXXXXX: Serial number

For 1988 production numbers they start with:
JN1PS24S*JW000001
JN1PS26S*JW000001
JN1CS26S*JW000001
JN1VS26S*JW000001
