Is there a cheap way to get coilover on the 200 sx, maybe under $1,000 dollars. I asked Signal Auto and they said they would custom make some for me for around 2,500. I think thats alittle too much but if there is no other way am gonna have to do it. Someone plz help me save $$$ plz

ground control makes coil over for 84 200sx ???? let me know please
and also, how much do they run for?

Radracer_Sdate not saved · #4

you'd have to talk to mike at groundcontrol for that. He said that the spring height are the same w/82-83 280zx.

It should be noted that Ground Control makes coilover "kits" that fit the front of our cars. They are not full coilovers. They consist of a threaded collar, upper and lower spring perches, and a spring. There is cutting and welding involved in installing the kit, as you have to cut the stock lower spring perch off of your McPherson strut housing, and then weld the lower retaining ring for the collar to sit on. You can request any spring rate and length you want. If you go with a spring rate much higher than stock, you will need to buy some upgraded strut inserts as well.

so basically this is not a typical bolt on kit where you just take off your stock and then replace it with the aftermarket type of thing....It requires extra work....hmmmmm i see....thanks for the info.

Nope. Pretty much the only way to go full coilover is to upgrade to S13 hardware.

or BARTCO!

Bart's front IS the Ground Control setup.

The S13 route is the cheapest. It'll be about $300 not includding the actuall coilovers. Maybe less if you can score a deal.

Eh, I don't know about cheaper. Easier, yes. The Ground Control kit for the front is around $200 or less, and it includes springs. All you would need to purchase on top of that is a good set of strut inserts. It all depends on how much of the labor (cutting spring perch and welding retaining ring) you can do yourself, or how cheap you can get someone else to do it for. However, the options for S13 coilovers, and the superior suspension design should account for something.

hey man

I went on their site, and I couldn't find the right listing for our cars.

http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/category.php/CA=27

they have the 240/260
the 260/280 Z (not ZX)

and nothing else ... this seems like a way better option for me, adjustable ride height, Eibach springs ... I can weld.

Which kit did you use? There was sort of a blank NIssan/Datsun cheap one ...

Let me know when you get a chance thanks!

Oh, and what springs did you go with? They let you choose ... I was thinking maybe 400s in the front. This car is going to see some pretty hairy action.

I'm used to solocross Tbars and mono leafs ... so harsh and bouncy I am familiar with.
