Can anyone give me pics of a VG30 from the side? I would like to check the clearance of my fan shroud. My SE was in a wreck, and I'm replacing what needs to be replaced, and the fan shroud looks a little close to the engine. I'm just wondering if the damage done is worse than I thought.
here is a pic from the driver's side.. i check the distance between the timing cover and the fan shroud and its roughly between like 3 and 3.5 inches
i can get a bigger, higher quality pic if you want,.. i just had to shrink this one down to be able to attach it to this post
Thanks henge, that picture is big enough, I can already tell I have a problem. I can't even see my fan from that angle, and the shroud is about an inch and half off of the accessory belts. Hopefully I'll be able to fix it when I replace everything that was damaged. Since there is a good chance that my radiator is partly to blame, let me ask this; is there any difference between the radiator in my 88 V6 and my 84 CA20?
yeah.. there is a difference (if they're the stock radiators anyways)
because the VG radiator has a remote radiator cap and the CA radiator has the radiator cap on the top of the radiator, this is because the highest point on the VG where coolant flows is not at the top of the radiator like in the CA..
ah yes, I forgot about that. I knew I was overlooking something simple. Well, this might end up being more expensive than I had hoped.

from the pics it looks like everything is pushed back about 2 inches.. it does look pretty bad tho :wall:
Yep, looks like you're going to need a new core support at best. That really sucks. Sorry to see that. :frown:
It's not a big deal... I didn't pay much for the car. If I pull the drivetrain out I'd get my moneys worth. Maybe I could find an old Datsun to put it in at worst.
