a 10/85 ecu will run a 84 car. as well as the efi control box under the ecu. now i did get a coolant temp sensor and a knock sensor code with the 10/85 ecu but it does start and run the car.

Good information to know...Ok, so I would have to assume that with this it would mean that MKI ECU's are pretty much the same (not turbo to N/A mind you), and MKII Ecu's are also similar (not turbo to N/A mind you), now here's the question...will a MKII Turbo ECU work on a MKI turbo car, or vise versa...and the same with a N/A?? 8)

what are the numbers of pins on each of the connectors? this might give us a little insight as to if they will work or not. i think both my ecu's had a 16 pin and a 25 and i forgot the other one. oh and also the little box below the ecu that controls the injectors swaps out. the part numbers on that were for the most part the same. both ecu's i had were a red 92 but the little black 4 or 5 digit number was wrong. i bet if the detonation sensor and the temp sensor was swapped out that would eliminate the codes.
