Hey whats up. I recently bought a 1988 Nissan 200SX SE V6 and now im looking to do some performance mods to it. I was thinking something like cold air intake, cat back exhaust, and some coil overs to make the car sit nicer on the 17" rims im gettin for it. The problem i have is ive looked all over the place and i can only seem to find performance mods for the damn B14 200SX can anyone help me with this problem possibly direct me where to go to get the mods im lookin for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Performance Mods
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Jul 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
The most popular performance mods for the V6 are a KA24 throttle body, and the MAF and ECU from a Z31 300ZX. And of course cat-back exhausts, cone filters, etc. A true cold air intake is hard to do unless you put a vent in the hood or fender. But you can mount a cone filter easily enough by removing the airbox and getting a 3" MAF adapter, one meant for a Mazda RX-7 or MX-3 will fit perfectly. As for the exhaust, 2.5" seems to be the most appropriate size for the V6. I had my 2.5" cat-back custom-bent and welded, with a Flowmaster muffler.
If you search around this forum and the "archives" at the old forum at www.club-s12.org/forum, you'll find the aftermarket parts for other cars that we've discovered switch over to the S12. Many Z31 suspension components will work on your car.
BTW, we ask all new members to add their location to their profile so it shows up with your posts. Since you have the V6 you are obviously in the United States, but we still like to know where everyone's from.
Alright i will add some info into my profile, and i appreciate the advice. I will search around the forum some to see what aftermarket parts will fit. Thx again
oooo... you're in NY wanna come to our meet we're setting up?

It going to be in late august and I think we're going to be meeting at the dragon's tail in NC. Read the post for more details
Hmmmmm....any suggestions on where i can locate the ECU and MAF from the 300ZX is there any online places where i can purchase them, and how difficult are they to install? I have never messed with the ECU on any of my cares so....i dont know lol, also where can i get the MAF adpaters, any specific online stores or anything. Thx again
Hah one more thing, i wanna shorten the throw of my shifter...and i dont wanna use the stock shifter knob...so do i just have to cut off about 2" off the shifter and put the shifter knob i bought on there or is there other stuff i have to do. I know these questions may start to get annoying but i want my 200sx/S-12 Silvia to be beautiful and nice, and since i do not know much about them i have to ask the experts. Thx
Enquire to Crowbar60 about all your computer and maf needs. He has all the stuff you need and all the info.
As far as the shifter goes you can use one from a 240 or a z31 300.
do a search on that in the archived section. I think there is more info there on that.
You can just cut the shifter, to at least make it feel better. I cut about 1.5" off of mine. The aftermarket knob I have doesn't need threads, but works better if they are there, so rather than just cut the top off the shifter I made two cuts, the first just a bit under the threads and the second 1.5" down from that, then tossed out the center section I had cut out, tapped threads into the two end sections, and fastened them back together with a threaded rod. Works great, and the shifting feels much better.
The ECU/MAF mod can be a bit difficult to obtain the right parts for, only a 1986 Z31 ECU will work with the stock S12 oxygen sensor.
About cutting the shifter, do i have to remove it or can i just get in there and cut it? I wanna shorten it about 2" does that sound like a good length? Also i dont know about going all the way to NC, thats a far drive for me probably like 9-10 hours, if it was somewhere closer i would definately come. How would i get ahold of this Crowbar60 guy? Also where do you think i can find a 3" MAF adapter like was suggested? Thx for the help again. Peace
