I am sure this question has been asked before, and I did search some. But hear it goes anyway. Can I turbo charge a 3.0? I know anything can be done with enough $money$. My situation is I have had 84-89 300zx's for the last 5 years. So I have accumulated a few extra parts, and have been given the chance at a 200sx SE, with no engine. I have a spare engine, tranny, ecu, etc. Pretty much a whole 300zx turbo parts car and then some. I thought I read somewhere that the turbo manifolds wouldnt work. Anyone know if this is true, and why? Any input or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Andy
turbo 3.0

Is it possible...YES...is it difficult...YES. Actually the VG30DETT can be squeezed into the engine bay, so if it can...then a single turbo should also be able to fit...plus with the fact that you have a complete parts car...go for it...8)
A better plan for the 200SX is to create a VG30ETT. Use the VG30ET engine from a 300ZX, but ditch the stock exhaust manifolds because they're the main reason the turbo engine swap does not work. The VG30E in the 200SX sits very far back in the chassis, which makes it impossible to use a crossover pipe. Without the crossover pipe, your turbo will only be spooled by 3 cylinders. :p If you throw the stock exhaust manifolds in the garbage though, and then have two custom exhaust manifolds welded together in order to hang two small turbos from each side of the engine, the S12 engine bay will have the width for it.
VG30ETT. If you have the resources to do it, that's the least problematic way to make a turbo V6 swap work.
you could re-run the hydrolic lines (brake and clutch) so they're out of the way and then find a way to slide te engine forward a bit... I guess? A TT is prob your best shot though.
yes, but a bigger (higher volume) Master Cylinder would be wise, to compensate for the longer lines. (needs more pressure)
