I just got a 85 200sx a couple of months ago and Im looking to get something with a little more rev and power out of it. I used to have a 85 MR2 and that thing had a killer power train when I was done with it. The slow reving CA18et does not impress me with being a 8 Valve SOHC. Does anyone know if you can swap any other L4 engine in it like the SR20DET, CA18DET, KA24DE. I allready have a cone filter, 370cc injectors, custome FMIC, 2.5" straight exhaust(has glass pack) and I dont think I pulling more than 145-150 hp at best and I dont want to raise the boost any higher cause the engine has 127K on it and a replacment engine would kill my wallet.

first off welcome to the club!

you can swap in all three

all have been done.. Jason (SLEEPNS12) put a ka24de into his S12 (he's got the info at his site: http://www.cardomain.com/id/sleepns12).. and there are a few others who have put CA18DET's and SR20DET's into their S12s.. jus do a search and you should find the information you want

in order of the hardness to do each swap, from what i've read it would probably be something like this:

Easiest - CA18DET
Average - SR20DET
Hardest - KA24DE

i'm not sure if thats exactly right.. but i'll jus leave that for now..

can I ask how you are running 370cc injectors? Because if you are running them off the stock CA18ET ecu, I know where you lack of power is at. Running rich. If you are running a standalone, please let me know.

When I installed the 370cc injectors I noticed a good difference in power when I ask for it. However you are right about it running rich at idle.

Hey Henge, Do you know much about the ca18det swap. Does the tranny bolt up? If you get a jdm tranny will it fit the drive shaft? I did a search and there is only a couple of results on ca18det because it was only used on the 180sx that I know of. The same question for the sr20det, Also any there any other sites you might know of. The first site you gave me was really helpful. And by The way thanks for your help its nice to talk to some guys with some actual info of a 200sx. No one cares for them any more.
