rich issues

ok after installing my completly rebuilt oem motor i installed all the new aftermarket guages i could fit in the car air/fuel ,,oil press,,,boost,,,water,,,ex temp,,,,,and so on,,,,,,now it seems that my car has had a prob since day one.....its runnin rich! it runs rich allmost all the time...and no matter how i run the motor it never sees lean?...and thus meaning smoke at times and smelly...ive read that it may have something to do with temp sensors is this true?

question 2.. i run an average 7 pnds boost.i would like it at 10or better ..if i take my stock pov off and plug it what dammage will become to my motor and will it really do alot of difference?there is less then 3 thou miles on this car...im not about to blow it till at least 10 thou

i did install a new water temp sensor ..the one they say goto computer in car and not the one that goto the guages and i still get a wrong reading (allways hot) in my stock guages..after market one say im fine....whats up with this...is it my rich problem?..i many more questions but i type slow....
id be glad to share my knowledge of the ca18et as ive owned it for 4 years and have rebuilt everything allmost on it and did it all myself....so the dam nightmare is still frech in my mind

YAaaay! welcome to the club. Can you update your porfile with location it can help us out sometimes becuase we're spread out like all over the world.

Do you have the digital gauges? If so this can be the problem with your gauges. When I got my car the gauges said I had no oil pressure the engine ran and sounded fine so obviously there was something wrong. The car doesn't run funny (outside of your rich problem) does it? Does the gauge go to hot as soon as you turn the car on?

As far as the rich problem it could be a multitude of things. The temp sensor is suspected as a cause. The O2 sensor also seems to cause these problems. Although your A/F gauge wouldn't be getting good readings. Go over the splice you made for the A/F gauge and make sure the computer's line has a good connection.

Also in the works could be an injector leak. A faulty regulator or the solenoid controlling it although no one has said it's failed but you never know.

Your car will be fine without the POV So long as nothing goes wrong with the wastgate or it's actuator making the car overboost. 10 psi should result in a decent boost in power. A 1" NPT pipe plug screws in perfectly.

ok i put a 1 inch plug into the old bov hole....the boost pressure is the same (6-7 maby) but it seems to have that pressure sooner then before.....

i do have the digital guages but i also have aftermarket autometer carbon fiber guages for everything just about and im pretty sure there a hell of alot more acurate then stock digi dash! the dash temp guage say middle at start then right away its hot! all the way hot.but the oil is still cold as ice!.

i do have a injector leak at the plastic mount for one of the injectors and i stole one from my 2.0 nonturbo 200sx there same it also cracked off a chunk! id like some one to manufacture them from aluminium ill take 8 thanks! lol

and yes the motor runs fine especially at 158mph!!! proven clocked by idaho state police i figure top is 165 ..it was not going any faster really....
so it runs fine and puffs smoke out at full throttle from low rpm

158 mph? How high are you taking the rpms? Not that I don't believe you , but I don't see that being possible.....unless you have a 6spd or a taller gear ratio. When my '84 CA18ET hits 6000 rpms in 5th gear, i'm doing 130......although it would go more if I dared, but i'm too scared to take it much further into the red zone......but if I did I can't see it doing 160.....there's no way.

to be perfectly honest i have no clue!!! at 140 the car was extremely unstable and you can turn the wheel one quarter turn and nothing was happnin.......the police said same thing to me you said...how is this possible they say! but i can however prove the fact! its really hard to beleive even for myself but its gods honest truth i think that a great runnin ca18et can do 160 with a little mod and good gass in it if someone had the balls ambition and enough alcahol it is verry real! this caar was actually ticketed at 158 in north idaho by a idaho state trooper...i got the jail release statement to prove it! lol.....i was ripped from car and thrown into theres no questions asked...took 2 days to sort me out

your dash is bad. You'll probably need a new one. You can use one out a CA20 car if you have to. if you want to keep I suggest hitting it. It worked for for a little while when the tach and speedo started to go.

Yah that injector needs to be replaced. But i don't think that's causing your rich problem it would be lean and then would the car would sputter at higher RPM if it leaked externally.

The boost will be the same until you get a boost controller to raise it. Before you do that you should get an intercooler and BOV so you don't blow up that fresh motor of yours

mines running rich as well, what miles/gallon are you getting???

I would belive that the car is able to do that speed, my old S110 did 160km/h (@105 miles/h) before changing into 4th, and that was a 5 speed. pity it was limited to 180km/h

Theres no way the stock R200 rear end could ever get you anywhere near 160mph......it's just geared waaaaaay too low...to deliver that.

you know i think you right the spedo is like 12mph slower then it say
and if that the case then the cars are unstable at 120 or so

im not sure the mpg it is bad id guess under 20 maby 15

if the ca20 dash will work ...is all i have to live without is the boost guage? not that they worked even when they were new

i read to plug the stock bov and up the boost with a manual boost controll and id be fine? is this not true? as i have allready plugged it of (stock bov)

in wich the ticket i got was wrote for what the cop asked me what i thought i was dooing(while i was at the jail of course!) if id have thought about the dash being wrong and tolt them less ..id have saved some cash on the ticket and bail...lol
