Its been a long time coming but I finally have a digi cam at my disposal. So I created a cardomain site. The point of this post is so that any one that was wondering how much the 280ZX springs lowered my car can see...

Its the last pic right now. hopefully its clear enough. There really is no fender gap. Remember though this is on a VG so the results could very on other models. enjoy

Is there a significant weight difference between models? That looks awesome!! Hope i can get the same effect with a a CA18DET!! Did you keep your stock shocks?

The VG cars have an extra 100 pounds of weight in the front end vs. the CA cars. Nissan counteracted this difference with a stock spring that is both longer and stiffer than the springs found on the CA cars. With the added spring strength, the VG cars had the same wheel clearance as the CA cars. If the VG cars would have come with the same springs as the CA cars, it would have sat pretty low.

So yeah, his will be sitting a little lower because of the weight difference. But it will be fairly similar on your car.

I have KYB GR-2's up front too. The engine bay has been stripped so there may actually be less of a difference then you might expect. But yes the VG cars have a heavier nose. Oh those are 205/60R15's if any body wondered.

Were these the Suspension Techniques springs?

Pavementdate not saved · #6

yep, they are the stiffest 280ZX springs I could find.

Under_Controldate not saved · #7

these are only in the front correct?

akinaspeedstarsdate not saved · #8

some people had suspension tech. springs and said that the springs didnt drop their cars, so i didnt get them.....
so what is the deal with that???? or with this?

You may be thinking of the Tokico springs. I have them on mine and the rear might be slighlty lower but the front really isn't.

akinaspeedstarsdate not saved · #10

no, i am 100% sure it is suspension tech springs that we were talking about.
i guess it doesnt matter now that someone atually have pic to prove it.
right??

My Tokico's didn't lower mine much either. Tokico claims 1" but I dunno. They are quite a bit shorter than the stock springs side-by-side, so I was kind of disapointed in the end result.......must of been the sag that comes with 20 yr old springs that made up the difference. They did stiffen up the ride though.
Any idea if the ST springs are shorter than the Tokico's....unloaded?
