Hey guys, im installing an air/fuel gage... ok, the problem is that it says to connect the green wire from teh gage to the wire that goes from the o2 sensor connector to the ecu. not from the o2 sensor to the connector.

The thing is that there are 3 wires going from the connector to the ecu. which do i splice? plz help...

i hoocked my air fuel guage from autometer ...its wire went grnd ,power, then went to the wire on the o2 sensor right under the turbo there are 3 wires on it and only one works the sensor

Should be the orange wire from the O2 sensor harness.

dcd, was it the orange wire kieth is referring to...?

dcddate not saved · #5

id have to go look what one it was but seems right....like i said only one of the 3 wires will give you the signal you want

thnxs man but id have to know for sure so i can continue...?

ok ill go out and look..

Thnxs dcd, Kieth is a respected member and has alot of knowledge but i want to make sure since hes not positive. that way i dont splice the wrong wire...

Oh thanks...........but i'm positive it's the orange.
If your looking at the plug with the push down thing facing up (the thing you push to release the plugs) Of the three wires leading from the wiring harness to the plug where the O2 sensor plugs on at, the one on the left should be black with a red stripe, the middle one should be solid black which is also shielded, and the one on the right should be solid orange. Peel back the wire loom so you can see the color of the wires.

i have 3 wires ,,orange..black with red stripe........and a sheilded white one....mine it attached to the sheilded white one...and it works,,,,when i tried the others i got no signal

grr... now what do i do? i dunno which wire to splice now...

you can also splice the o2 wire to the ecu. if you have the pinout diagram this may be easier than the actual o2 sensor wire.

The safest bet would be to pull down your ECU and unplug the 15-pin connector and look at terminal 115 to see what color the wire leading to it is. Like I said...on mine it's orange, which is also the one I tapped into up in the engine bay. If you need help telling which terminal is # 115, let me know.
Another thing you could do is until you figure out which wire you need to splice into is to take the signal wire from the a/f gauge, and strip off about 3/4" so the bare wire is exposed, then unplug the O2 sensor from the wiring harness, stick the a/f gauge wire into one of the three terminals on the ecu side of the plug (female side), then plug the O2 sensor plug back on, and in turn the a/f wire should be wedged between the 2 plugs down in one of the terminals and making contact. Try all 3 until you get a signal....then you know which one to splice.
