I know everybody i asked pretty much pointed me towards the starion intercooler direction, but my question is this. what type and what width does the actual piping have to be? can you use exaughst piping? or it has to be made out of some other type of material
intercooler set up

as long as your material can take the heat, it doesn't matter what you use.
Pipe size depends on a lot of other factors.
Well, what turbo are you planning to intercool? Tell us everything you have ready to go along with it, boost levels etc etc ... and we can help you from there.
Just because someone tells you the Starion is a great IC doesn't make it true.
Every component needs to be matched one to the other. My personal standby is to keep all sizes consistent. If you've got a 60 mm TB, your pipes should be 60 mm inner diameter.

Thanks for tip!
which is exactly why I am running 2" IC piping all around. From the turbo to the TB. Even my starion IC was converted to 2" :lick:
match the piping coming off the hot side of the turbo then after your intercooler you can increase the size a bit. just keep the smaller size going into the intercooler to keep velocity on the air. once it hits the intercooler it can expand a little then you are concerned with volume which would use a bigger pipe
thanks! question...is the 1g eclipse turbo stock side mount intercooler sufficiant for our turbo vehicles and if so up to how much is thier efficiancy? :honda:
I am unsure about their effeciency I think it's around 70%-80% :dontknow:
but they'll work fine as long as you can mount them in a place where it will get air.

cool thanx
1G DSM ICs are really good actually, almost tops as far as factory when it comes to low pressure drop vs. flow through the fins.
If I can find it, Gus did a good comparison of common junkyard ICs.

dont use low quality exhaust pipes!
My IC piping was made of shitty low cost 2,5" pipe, and when I looked at its inside LARGE peases of it had torn loose and gone into the engine..
I'm gonna rock the 240 volvo Ic, that setup is sick!!!!!!!!
I'm planning to use an Audi 5000 quattro turbo intercooler. It seems like it would work since openings are all in one side.
yea I like the 740 I/C setup I like it so much I did it!!
