fuelpump wiring problem

Swapped the fueltank and pump in my complete engine swap on my bluebird, and I came over this problem... I'm really not sure on how to wire this back up.. (note: the black, protected wire that comes from the ECCS). If i jack it up with the new ground wire, the pump runs fine when I switch the ignition.

http://zr.no/hawkon/car/wiring/pumpeledningerbeskrivelse.jpg

1 = power from ignition, connected to + on the pump under the housing
2 = the pumps ground
3 = the housing's ground
4&5 = feed og return for the fueltank level gauge
6 = ground from the original wiring, 12v
7 = protected ground from ignition, shows 6-8v against wire #1
8 = new ground from battery, 12v

The weird thing is, wire 7 only shows voltage to wire 1, but does not have any connection to the other grounds... this wire also comes directly from the ECCS unit.
Although when I connect the protected wire to the pump's ground, the voltage show 0, and the pump will not run.

Anyone got any tips on what to put where?

Another thing, I can't get any sparks on my plugs... do you know if the #7 wire is a 'sensor' for the ECCS to tell if the pump is running or not, and then wont give sparks if it isnt?

You might be right about this I think I came across this (lol) last year when I had a bad electrical fault but couldnt find it. I ended up checking everthing only to find it was an intermitent fault with one of the fuselinks!

I have actually got the fuel pump wiring exposed on my car at the momment as Im getting ready to change the pump so i'll have a look at it today when i've shifted my hangover. (I cant bend down and put my head lower than my shoulders at the momment)

ok, that is weird. I need to figure out if the black protected ground can run the pump then if it's a circuit. Thanks for checking this out for me jim!

done some more measuring today...

as I've posted first up this thread, the ground shows somewhere around 7volts, den drops 0.01 volt per second and lands at 6.x somewhere... This is far from a good grounding as the pump should be fed with 12v to be effiecient. Also, I've swapped my pump with a 190lph walbro - wich works fine on the new 12v ground I put up. The old stock fuelpump (wich also works at 12v) doesn't work with the protected ground either.

I'm soon to get a new ECCS unit, as I can't do diagnostic on mine nor get the car to give me some sparks. If anyone know of a huge harness/wireupgrade for these motors, I'd be more than willing to invest in one. $1000? bah, not a problem. As long as I can get my car running, I won't care.

the screened black wire comes from the ecu and it is the negitive for the pump, My ecu is not grounding the pump, so I just hooked it straight to the body
