HEy all,
I really want to get some more POWER off my ca20e. A buddy of mine told me that i could take my head into a shop where they shave it down...lowering the area for more compression. He told me my engine might not last as long as i want it too but thats cool with me. Did anybody do this b4? Any suggestions.

Thanks
rick

It could probably be done. But you really have to watch the clearance with the valves. As it is, if the timing belt goes, it usually takes a couple valves as well. I do not know if anybody has tried it but there has been some discussion on it. It would be nice to up to say like 9 to 1 instead of 8.5 to 1 that it is now. What other mods do you have planned? Do you plan on getting one of those Euro cams, or maby go for a colt cam? Well good luck, and hope if you do try it that it works out for you.

Crow Cams here in australia quoted me AUD$417 for a cam for the CA20E that will be good for 150HP if the following is done:

Ported & Pollished Head (NOT SHAVED, STOCK COMP!!)
4-2-1 Extractors
Pod filter with some form of cool air induction (in front bar)
Tuned length intake pipe

Infact the 150HP i asked for is an easy request, so they said that they added more torque between 2000-4000RPM and the peak power (150HP) was at only 5500RPM. NOTE: $417 is for the master cam, the initial cam, after that they use the master cam as a template to grind others, so every cam after the initial one is somthing like AUD$190.

Thought you'd like that info.

i can get all the cam information they want. If they wanna charge you that much for a cam cause they dont have the specs...thats just bad business. Delta Cams has everything cam related for a NICE cam tahts better in performance than the Colt Cam. Im going to get mine done there for $55 USD + shipping + my old cam. $95 if you use their core cam and then mail yours later when you remove it.

as far as shaving the head, i dont think there is muck room to do that. Our engines dont have muhc room toshave stuff and get away with it. Best bet is to go for a CA20E performance setup. With that larger cam and the valves going open farther, i REALLY dont know how much room you will have.

Is there a website or some contact info for those Delta cams. I am probabably going to need some head work anyways so I was just wondering.
