How much oil can a CA18ET take?

Hi guys, I just got my 88 CA18ET 200sx yesterday. I'm doing the following on it right away:

motor Oil change
Coolant change
tranny oil change,
diff fluid change
Air filter change

My question is, how much oil does a CA18ET engine need when you do an oil change? I'm going to change the oil filter too. I don't want to overfill the engine.

Also, is it safe to use synthetic oil for turbo'd cars? I'm think 10w30 synthetic. Or should I just go with a regular dino oil for higher mileage engines? Is there such a thing as a crush washer for the Nissan's oil drain plug?

Thanks a bunch!

Cheers;
Peter

Nevermind. Did my oil change. Took 4L's with a bit of room to spare.

check your dipstick. 86 fsm shows 3.6L with filter.

For us still not using metric like ME its about 4.5 quarts of oil.

Owners manual and FSM both say 4 quarts when changing oil filter. There is a crush ring avail for the drain plug through Nissan, and auto parts stores.

I wouldn't run synthetic oil on a brand new or tired and old engine, only somewhere in between.

Synthetic is super slippery, and you'd be surprised how many seals will start to leak once you go from dyno to synthetic.

Hi youth, Nice to see yet another member from the lowermainland. You plan to rally with this car. Just for fun or on a professional level?

Yeah, I ended up using Mobil 1 for higher mileage engines. It's a synthetic blend, not a true synthetic. Thanks for the replies.

WestSide, just to learn on. I plan on attending RallyX and TSD setup by the West Coast Rally Association (http://www.rallybc.com) with this car. I won't be doing SCCA pro-rally with it. I'm not that good, nor I think my car would be able to handle it :p

I was using my impreza before, but the last mishap costed me $1200 to fix, so I decided to just get a rally beater (My 200sx cost me $1500).
