I have a 1984 200sx CA20E and I have noticed lately that it will start to hestitate like it is not getting gas properly. I checked and found that my injector harnesses are missing the clips and I thought that this might be the problem. Well it turns out that the problem is the wires themselves. If you move the harness where it mounts to the injector, it starts idling bad. I have a parts car with these harnesses on it. What I am wondering is there anything particular that I need to look for when changing them out (i.e. label which wires come off of which injectors, note wire colors..etc.)
Thanks
Injector Harnesses
get some conductive gel and try that first
Where would I put that? Inside the harness to the injector itself?
on the contacts of the plug and injector
bart
here is a pic of a harness..the red line is pointing to be black rubber boot that I think is causing the problem...do you think that the gel will work if it is in this part of the harness?
Conductive gel would be a bad idea, you don\'t want a conductive substance in there. It would end up shorting out the circuit and your injector wouldn\'t fire properly.
However, some dielectric tune-up grease would be a good idea. It is non-conductive and you can pick it up at any parts store. It may be your contacts are just dirty/corroded. Cleaning them up and adding dielectric grease may fix it.
If the problem turns out to be a bad wire I\'d suggest chopping it off several inches away from the plug, then solder in a replacement. Recommend using heat shrink tubing on each wire to seal it up.
no dont put them in the boot but on the contacts themselves... like its been said the contacts may be too corroded
I kind of have the same problem, well mine is ok, as long as you dont wiggle the injector wires when its running. Yeah, the problem is inside the rubber boot, the wires get hot and brittle, and start to short out when you move it. Its probably going to be a bitch changing that thing, there\'s no f\'in room in there, as long as you can get to it, then its not really a problem, you dont need to mark which one is which, they all have diff lengths and are pretty simple to figure out, the problem is taking the harness off the the old injectors, they get pretty brittle and are pretty easy to break. But all in all, that will fix the problem.
Thanks Guys!
