Ok. so I got those stainless steel braided lines, and I thought my problems were over...well, not quite. There's this box in the back that connectes the left and the right weels to the line coming from the front (this is hard line, not the rubber part), and the leak is in there...looks like it drips from the bolt that holds it to the chassis...What is this, and how expensive is it to replace (it looks like the block is made of brass, if this helps)?
Thanks,
-Matt

Rear Brake Problems
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Jun 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
hmm now theres no bleed screw anywhere near that leak is ther.. if not thne ya the whole thing needs to be replaced
It looks like it's dripping from a bolt, I'm assuming that bolt holds it to the chassis...I don't think there's a bleed screw anywhere near it. As I said it's a brass block with multiple lines meeting there. Is it expensive? Can I get it at an auto parts store, or is it a dealer part?

That's a splitter or Proportioning Valve. If it's leaking, hmm ... shouldn't ever *lol* they are a sealed unit. But it is possible. I say take it off and see if you can figure out why it's leaking ... if one of the lines has come loose, it might bleed around the threads.
Now what I'm suspecting is that the leak may actually be coming from the master and dripping down. Check where the master bolts to the booster, and the firewall under there. Brake fluid eats through paint and grime, so it should be obvious.
What kind of problems are you having? Spongy non-working brakes in the front, little bit of back brakes, and that's it? Won't bleed properly? Maybe accompanied by a squishy whooshing sound under the hood when you pump the brakes hard?
That will be the pushrod inside the master cylinder. The rubber starts to get hard, and fluid seeps past the seals, and eventually just starts moving air instead of fluid.
That's a $30 part, but I'd use one for an 89-90 240 SX instead. I had to replace mine (for all the above problems) but I went junkyard surfing. The 240 pushrods are way beefier, better rubber etc. and a direct bolt in. Nissan might have actually superceded the old style one with the new one. Every 200 and Pulsar pre 89 I found in the junkers with the same master all had the same problems. The 240s didn't.
nah, this part is in the rear of the car...and of course, two of the three lines came off no problem...that third line..grrrr...I'm taking a few minute break, put it that way lol...if I can get it off the car, I'll take a picture of it.
