hi
does anyone have or know of where i can get a fibreglass or carbon fibre bonnet for our cars?
ive got the FJ so id need the bulge but if no one has them, i might approach a fibreglassing mob in Victoria, Oz and see how much it would cost to make up. id then see if we could do a bulk buy to see if it was feasible.
IMHO the bonnets (especially the FJs) are the heaviest ones ive ever encountered and a much lighter one can only mean better handling, a quicker car, etc, etc
cheers

Fibreglass or CF Bonnets (hoods)
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Jun 2004" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
whcih ever one is the cheapest to make it our of, since its onlt the bonnet you would be making
fibreglass would no doubt be cheaper.
wonder how many people would want the factory bonnet bulge anyway?
if its under 125 id get one
ill see how it goes.
where are the bloody aussie guys, cmon surely a light bonnet is something worth having?
hey man can you update your profile so we know where you are from
I am in Victoria (AUS) and have some skills when it comes to fibreglassing, carbon fibre, etc etc. I restore boats and making a bonnet skin would be piss easy if someone is willing to donate the funds for the initial mould. Once I make the mould, i can punch out bonnets in fiberglass, carbon fibre, etc etc. One thing you should all know is CF has a tendancy to bow (bend and warp) in sunlight if not treated with a UV stabilizer, so make sure you get the place to use UV/temp safe resin. PM me with ya mobile number and i will give ya a call and we can meet up or somthin and discuss this in more detail. Also i am making a front lip extension for the S12's, just to make the front look a little lower.
Catch ya's
sheppo = :bow:
how much will the initial mould cost?
what needs to be supplied?
how long will it take?
if you wanna take this off forum email me on [email removed]
cheers
