Back in the early 90's I drove an 84 S12 CA20E with a manual transmission. My memory is probably filtered through rose-coloured glasses but I seem to recall it being somewhat faster off the line than what I'm experiencing with my 86 CA20E automatic. I know being automatic is probably a cause, but are there any small tweaks to get it to be a little peppier? I'm not really looking to any uber-tuning or doing an engine swap (tempting though it is). Doing a search here I saw a reference to changing the exhaust, using higher octane gas and advancing the timing a bit. Anything else I can try?
