Is the dash harness seperate from the chassis harness? I know the dash harness plugs into the chassis harness but what I want to know is if the dash harness intertwines at a different point in to the chassis harness. Im asking because I wonder if i can just grab a dash harness out of an 85 and replace my dash harness thus making it an 85 and the plugs would then be the same......

Yes it is, and there are a few plugs from the heater control that you have to disconnect.

I realised that after taking all the switches off and taking the dash off lol. You don't need to pull the switches.

The connector is the big square one (SMJ nissan call it) under the dash in front of the passenger door.

So essentially I can pull my dash harness and replace it with an 85 version with no issues?

it's probably easier to pull the dash and then pull the harness from it. But yeah, unless there is something essentially different (like needle cluster vs digital cluster) I don't see why it shouldn't work.
