If I plan to run factory boost, will CA18DE higher comp pistons in a ca18et work? Then down the road, could they handle say, 7-8psi? I found a piston/rod/pin set for very cheap, and I can't find a sufficient answer on this question.
CA18DE pistons in a ca18et (factory boost)
You can use the 18de rods and pistons theres a few guys that have swapped the 18det rods and pistons as well 7-8 psi shouldnt be a problem just make sure you have enough fuel and get an safc to tune with....
If I was to install the DE pistons and ran factory boost, would I need more fuel? Less timing? How would i make it work?
Also, I need a fuel pump. Which fuel pump out there would support the CA or the KA?
Fuel pump go with a walbro 190lph that way you dont need an aftermarket fpr (fuel pressure regulator) and as far a injectors go.the stock injectors are small even for stock boost it'll get you by for daily driving but if you want to turn up the boost any your going to need larger injectors theres an older mercedes that has the same hose barb injectors the ca has so its a direct fit and they are rated at 460ccs which should be more than enough for a boost increase but you will need an safc to tune with and also you will and wideband so you can keep an eye on your afrs (air fuel ratio).

As far as the rods and pistons go you should be able to swap them in and run the stock timing.
What year Mercedes?
Im not entirely sure 1980 something....

Its the mercedes 280sel dont remember the year
450sel 1975 420cc and you can get them for less than 40 per injector from rockauto
Thank you Jeremy for the correction.
ah no worries sideways, any more work done on your et i will have mine put together hopefully by next weekend, still waiting on some parts and final details in the head.
No im waiting to find an 86 harness and ecu to get it running....
so your looking for the entire engine harness? hmm my local tuning shop wants me to go mega squirt and so do i but i want to get it up and running first and then not have to borrow a car to do the swap and as im an electrician i was going to build another harness for the engine and will have no need for the computer so i will keep you in mind when i do and get that stuff to you though it wont be anytime soon. i am still looking for another turbo though no one local has anything for sale that will bolt up.
Yours is an 86? And if so yes I will take it lol otherwise ill have to change the chassis harness and i really dont want to do that.
