Some of the members here are likely familiar with IggyEGuana (or more formally known as Waylon Deno). Anyone who has been following Iggy for awhile knows he has been aspiring for years to competitively break into ProAm and hopefully Formula Drift down the road for quite some time. Especially fellow drifters like myself can't help but admire the dedication he has kept so strong considering the setbacks he has experienced over the years. His first s12 years ago was this silver ca18det hatch:

Unfortunately we all know drifting is not without its risks of catastrophic failure which was the ultimate fate for the silver hatch:

Which he (and some helpful friends) then literally dumpstered like a boss:

After awhile Iggy found a very nice solid rear axle hatch as his next drift project but he ultimately deemed it to be to nice to suffer the same potential fate as his previous hatch. He ended up selling it to Jeremy A (who by the way has done a great job with it). Luckily he found an 85 notch, and on a barebones budget, added a basic turbo setup to the ca20e for some extra power. Sadly after a 3rd gear entry at around 60mph his front end washed out which lead to this:

Now at this point most people likely would have thrown in the towel given the hand Iggy had been dealt. I know I probably would have. But not Iggy. He already had a red hatch shell as a back up and swapped everything over from the notch in a relatively short amount of time. Clearly this guy's only focus was getting back on the track as soon as possible and within a month or two the red shell went from looking like this:

To this:

And ultimately got him back to doing this:

Despite all the hard work Iggy has put into furthering his dreams one guy on a bare bones budget can only go so far without support and sponsors. His current ca20et setup is just barely getting him by and to have any serious chance at acquiring an FD licence down the road he will need a more reliable and powerful engine. As a club I think it would be great to see us supporting Iggy. You can do this by either sending Iggy a donation via paypal ([email removed]) or, especially if your a Vegas local, supporting him at the local events. This can be done in a variety of ways such as taking action photos, helping in the pits, etc. The ultimate goal of supporting Iggy (and therefore the s12 chassis) is to increase the odds the s12 has at breaking out into the competitive drift scene. Especially if we can support him as a club he just might be able to get the recognition and bigger sponsors he will need to down the road to continue his dreams.

All I can say to you guys is thank you. If you want to support what I'm trying to do, how you do it is up to you. Spreading the word is probably the best and easiest thing to do right now. Just getting my name out there is the hardest part of trying to be a professional driver. Add me on Facebook my name is Waylon Deno. I'm the only one. Share my build thread with friends who are into old school drift cars or just into drifting. I havent come up with a "brand" yet but its in the works. Just increasing the presence of the S12 in general will help both me and everyone. There have been several guys that did great things with their S12s but they ultimately moved on to a "better" chassis. I can tell you guys as long as I own the car I'm driving, it'll be an S12. Even if I have to run a fully custom rear suspension I'll still be in a S12.

Thank you.

Nice Promotion! You know if I wasn't busy working all the time I'd be out there supporting you as I have done in the past nothing but love here and if there's anything I can do you know you can always hit me up!

This was an awesome write up. Keep it up Iggy, you are an inspiration to some of us AmAm drifters :)

very good write up Red and Iggy your dedication to the S12 is amazing......i know this maybe wrong but since you are on a very tight budget it may not be a bad idea to look at another chassis for the time being we all know the down falls of the s12 unless you are talking big money for a really good suspension upgrade. there are only a couple guys on this forum i see really chasing their dream of being a prodriver in drift and as Iggy mentioned they have moved onto another chassis.......all i am saying Iggy if you did decide to move on to another chassis i could not believe anyone would hold it against you even if you did change i know you would still have s12's in your stable.........just remember do the best thing to keep your dream alive does it really matter if you are behind the wheel of a s12 or s14 as long as you are living your dream and advancing

My advice is to take a year off the money your spending on tires and entry fees and stuff done to the ca could be used towards your vh swap I figure you'd probably would be 70 percent there by now....

IggyEGuanaMar 4, 2013, 11:10 am · #7

Thanks guys. There is no way im ditching the S12.

I have a few good ideas for products to sell for funraising. Basically it"l be like a clothing/sticker/lifestyle company.   Part art and part baddassery. S12s, garage life, car life, drifting, style, turbos, horsepower, speed etc etc will all be a part of the identity. Basically just stuff I like. But I don't have a name for it yet. I could fuse it with my "shop" identity which is Wizard Speed. But I'm not sure that would work as a lifestyle brand. It could all be one mashup of the shop and brand together tho.

Give me some feedback on what you guys think. Its still in the child stage and you guys are part of its growth. This isnt just me. Its S12s

I think Sideways has the right idea. Take a year off, spend the time and money building your car, and come back the next year ready and able to win.

In the meantime, organize more funding, gather resources, and come up with a plan to make it big. I'd like to help in any way I can, but at the moment I'm completely and utterly broke, and too far away to lend an actual hand. But I'm rooting for you, Iggy.

All you need is a reality tv show; that would get your funding going.  Iggy and the Driftmaniacs - every Wed 9-10pm

sideways_s12Mar 4, 2013, 6:58 pm · #10

Wizard speed is actually pretty cool and if s12s are incorporated you know im in. I got a guy that makes shirts i could get with him if you have a design in mind and he can plater it on a shirt for you and anyone else.....

WonderingravenMar 4, 2013, 9:14 pm · #12

Get pro-am status already.  One day I'll be doing the same, until then it's all about having fun.

When I said a year off i meant after this year save that money you would be using and get that vh done...! Then they will have no excuse to not notice you!

Such an inspiration man..I hope to start a drift build this summer or next winter. The house we're living in will be mine and I'm gonna turn the garage/loft into a studio apartment and putting a large 2car garage in place of the house. Maybe one day we'll meet at the track as opponents lol

IggyEGuanaMar 4, 2013, 10:23 pm · #15

IggyEGuanaApr 14, 2013, 11:26 am · #24

Hey guys thanks for the support. Got the brand put together. It's called Silhouette Autosports. I havent sat down and made the primary logo but i have it in my head. its gonna be 80s throwback style. Probably the old school Nissan font with layering and the Silvia Super Silhouette livery colors (yellow, blue, white)
