Audio set-up

Ive installed new stereos on plenty of cars but they all have the slot premade so you don't have to do any work really.

So I took it to a local audio shop and the told me he had no idea how to do anything to my car with I thought was stupid as shit. It can't be that hard.

So a few questions since I have to do it myself.

1. Can i take the stock stereo out and leave the mpg computer part intact or is it all one piece?

2. Am I going to need some bracket as the stereo at least from the outside looks like its going to leave a big hole and I don't want it just moving around.

Any other tips about the audio setup in an s12 would be great aswell.

There is an adapter plate for an aftermarket radio like the ones they use on newer cars but there insanely hard to find these days. My local shop said they were just gonna make a custom one wen I went there.
