85 ca20e: Driving on the freeway tonight, doing 50 when the motor just quits - no sputter, no nothing, just like turning off the key. So turned key off and back on and away it went like nothing happened. Drove 15 minutes more to destinatioin w/o a problem. Coming home it did the same thing three more times, the last time took three key cyclings to come back to life.  Again, no warnings, no hesitations, no misses, just quits. Kind of concerned I caught one of Night S12's gremlins. Any ideas would be appreciated. BTW distributer is new, less than 5k mi on it. Tank was low, took 10 gal to fill.  Thanks, Red

ok so I had a similar problem where the key cylinder connections were getting messed up.  i could be driving and wiggle the key cylinder wires and the engine would just shut down wiggle again and fire back up,  i ended up getting a new cylinder wire harness i used the part number US 148 from auto zone it was under 15 bucks i think. this for me cured my problem. hope that helps and keep us posted.

my suggestion instead of spending money on that and not knowing if its the issue would be carry a meter with you and when it happens, see if you still have power to the ignition. if you dont, and you wiggle the key around and get it going, then you know for sure!

Great idea - makes some sense too since all I have to do is turn the key off and on to go again. This has been so quick I don't even have to pull over - just cycle the key quick and away it goes again.  I'll try playing with the key to see if I can get it to quit, and pull the shroud so I can wiggle the harness. Thanks for the idea Jeremy!

So key jiggle did nothing. Was running pretty rough, so popped the hood and found the #4 exhaust wire off the dist cap, and the upper coil was arcing from the boot to the coil tower.  Fixed that and runs great again. Gotta love that smooth ca20 power lol

Only time my ca20 died was when my power steering pump seized up going down the highway. Motor just stopped and all my dash lights came on :S Cut the belt off and no problems since

You know a motor is gutless when it can't even burn a belt on a seized pulley!

YUP, I thought the head gasket went with all the oil on the road at night, But when i stuck my head under and looked at it all coming out of the PS pump i tried to turn it and died from laughter. Made me surprised that i can drift with this motor hahaha
