Bellhousing bolt sizes?

Just putting things back together after dropping the sub-frame to change the end bearings. Came to bolt the block-to-bellhousing brackets and the 14mm block bolts go in fine but the other 14mm bolts I have left don't really seem to be catching the threads, despite going in pretty far. They came out fine so I don't think there's any stripping going on. I tried them from behind but they were then too tight.

So, on the auto trans (mk2), should the bottom half of the bolts be 14mm?

TIA!

All the bolts are 14mm.  They are of varying length though and need to go in their specific locations.

cheers, will clean out the bolt holes and run a tap down there, see what's what.

you can also go to the tool shop and buy an electronic caliper with a depth finder, that should help you out aswell!
