So i hate my solid rear axle but I've heard u can make it work for you to drift with it. Can someone please explain to me this I am totally confused. I wanna upgrade to all s13 suspension good or bad idea?

Well any suspension can be fucked with to work reasonably. In your case, the nice thing about SRA is it stays at zero camber the whole way when you lower it. I know you mentioned before about the cambered look, but to be honest with you it's terrible for a number of reasons, and the bane of many S12 IRS owners around the world. So then let's say you decide to work with this SRA you have. Great. Now what?

Well, there's a few people actively on here who are intimately aware of the ins and outs of the SRA because they have modified them. I know the specifics but some questions will be best answered by those people (Jay or David B would be good go-to people for that). The bottom line is it's not hard to lower it. You get springs. You weld on a short piece of pipe on either side to give you a place to slip an adjustable perch over. You adjust the perch. BAM. You're lowered.

You never have to question fitment, because the wheel fitment at one height is THE SAME at all heights. Whereas the IRS people have get nervous that their wheel tire combo might not work well the more they raise or lower their suspension. This is especially true for the hellaflush fanboys who obsess over gripping a playing card between their tire and their wheel well lip lol.

The H190 differential isn't that bad, either. It's no R200, but it will handle decent power. You can weld it to give yourself dual wheel grip which is something you've mentioned as a concern. It's not a true limited slip but for your needs will achieve the same result and if welded well enough might also make it much stronger. You might squeal a tiny bit when making right hand turns at intersections (or really any tight turns), but it's minimal at most (or at all).

If and when you need something beefier than the factory SRA, you can just find a Ford Mustang rear axle setup, and just weld on the tabs from your original SRA so you can use the S12 suspension arms. You'll never need anything beefier! But really, unless you're gonna be boosting a KA or running with an SR20DET at high PSI, you will probably be just fine with your S12's original SRA as long as the diff is alright.

Hope that helps get you in the right direction ;)

^tl;dr.

not trying to be a dick, but you obviously don't know anything about it or car setup in general. please search and you will find all your answers.

Jason's right. SRAs have their benefits. Been setting up all sorts of cars for motorsports for 25 years, and I see nothing wrong with what he has to say. If it's any indication, I have no plans to swap my SRA out. Gonna beef up the external structure, but SRA is staying. Fewer things to break -- like four fewer CV joints.

How the hell is this helpful? Anyone can blanket comment on a large post and dismiss it, but next time make yourself more (or at all?) useful in that post and bother to point out what and why. This is discussion, not "go find out for yourself". This isn't a well-discussed topic on this or any other S12 site, so it's not like when someone asks if S13 suspension fits and we get pissy and tell them to search on here. I mean really, come on dude. I expect better from you personally. You might not have wanted to be a dick and I acknowledge that you said as much, but without being a dick myself and just being blunt, you could have done this thread well by just contributing.

As far as what I know about SRA S12's, I haven't owned one, this is true. But I've read everything -- and I said EVERYTHING -- that has been said on here or on a couple other S12 sites, and even gone as far as to ask questions of not one but a few SRA owners who have played with their setups. I've also spent a good deal of time looking at an SRA S12 in person, and I'm not dumb. I have eyes and frankly, the SRA on our cars is pretty fucking obviousness when it comes to how it's set up. As far as the Ford axle idea, it wasn't mine at all, but judging from the particulars (of which there really aren't many), it seems pretty straightforward. So where did I go wrong?

Educate me, or really, just sit back and let others do so. That's a reasonable standard to uphold, isn't it?

*DOH*

Well like I said, I expected better from him of all people, so if that's true what you say, then I owe him an apology :/

my bad too then lol.... She's new and she's pretty humble about the fact that she is still learning, so don't get the impression that she's making bold claims. She was posting on the FB C-S12 group about all this and I asked her to post here to get questions started as needed.

OP, you really need to google some basics about how cars work. I agree with VVL.
