I am looking for a swap and I am thinking its going to be atleast a month or so before I can find one and afford it. So I have the chance to turbo my ca20e. I am getting a ca18et head with euro cam, t25 turbo with manifold, ic with pipping, turbo lines, wiring harness & ecu and injectors for $100. What all will I need besides these and any tips for me? Besides "dont do it!" lol I have seen other s12s run ca20et fine on around 8psi daily for a while. Eventually yes the motor went boom but it took months. Anyways! Any help will be appreciated guys thanks!

Should have been posted in CA20E TECH, not build projects.. Im sure a mod will move this for you, And i am not sure of what you need but maybe a FPR, BOV/stock ca18et pop valve

Just so people know I am not looking to build my ca20 or stick with it at all. I am going to swap. Just saving and trying to find one now. But I have the option to throw a turbo and ca18et head on so I figured why not have a little fun before I throw out the stock motor? So any help will be great guys thanks.

for 100bucks you can go wrong. you can always sell the turbo for more.. plus part with all the parts when you de side to swap and make money off it, put that money into you new motor..

but for the price. yourll see a good power incress over the na set up.. which would probly feed your need for more power for awhile..

Thanks for the input man. And I plan on either using the turbo set up since its a t25, on my swap or trading it with some cash on top for the swap. I think the second option would be better especially since I want a ka24de. Perhaps the turbo kit with the ic and euro cam with come in handy nicely with getting a swap lol

Mine never went boom. My distributer went bad, and my rear diff was thumping, so I bought a more reliable car and stored my notch for while. I had just bought a 2-way for it to. The car needed some down time and I needed a car like right now at the time. I love that car. Hope to keep it.

Pretty much the same set up there, except a T22 out of a Z32, and a 2&1/2" exhaust, some port grinding, and an MSD BTM(which shortens the life of the coils to about two years at most). We have 93/94 oct gas around here to.

It got 31mpg and never left me feeling the car didn't have enough power, like it did with the stock CA20. Oh, and I had a huge flat intercooler about the size of the radiator in front of the radiator with two oversized puller fans behind it(each rated for 400hp). At 65 on the highway in the summer I'd bottom the temp gauge and close the thermostat; that's how much those fans could pull. I've gone to 11psi for while after I rebuilt the turbo, it just spooled easier when you floored it, I didn't adjust the waste gate. Eventually it went back down to 7 after it got some miles on it.

I think a really cool charge, really good gas, and healthy ignition control is the key. Running like that, other things will fail long before the motor.

Nice! Thanks for the info! Yea I read about your ca20et. Nice build. All I need to know now is what all I need besides what I have.

I think that's it.

Seems like just small things off the top of my head; The oil feed T fitting off of the side of the CA18 block, an oil pan with an oil return port, the correct J pipe possibly, the exact year FSM of the turbo car your using the managment from(Makes things way easier), CA18et distributer, ignitors, detonation sensor, and air sensor. - Small things.

Wire it exactly like the CA18et is set up in the FSM. Nissan did the ground work and it makes it easier to repair when somthing electrical fails.  Just keep it at close to stock psi to avoid running out of fuel. The management will handle it just fine - it did for me.

I also used the CA18et FPR.

So on top of my $100 I spent already what am I lookin at to finish this? lol. And Imma have to find someone to help me put all this together, ive never done a turbo set-up before. Been reading as much as I can tho about them.

No telling really.

Do you have the CA18 Dist, Air flow, ignitors and things?

Mine cost $750 initially, but I ended up with way more than that in it over the years. After 10 years, I had $10K in my 200sx projects. For $10K you can have a way nicer car than I have. For $84 a month, there not going to finance you a very nice car though.

In this hobby, a $100 mistake isn't really to bad. You can still reconsider another motor, or be patient and search and post the want ads here for what you need at a good deal, The guys at CS12 are about your best bet for getting stuff cheap.

I still need the dizzy. No airflow censor, no ignitors. What I listed is what I am getting atm. I can ask for more off the ca18et. I was gettin the whole motor for $100 but shippin is like $690. And For that price I can get a ka. Plus I dont have $690. If I did i would have a ka swap already.

Ignitors?

Me wants to know...

ashleyanneJul 13, 2011, 6:56 pm · #13

Definitely do it. Lol. Stock, CA20s have 8.5:1 compression (for whatever freaking reason) so I would boost it if I had the resources. Low boost, like you said around 8psi, but still boost. It'll be awesome.
